Forza Horizon 5 is now available for pre-load on Xbox consoles and PC

Download Forza Horizon 5 ahead of its release on the Xbox Series S/X, Xbox One, and PC.

Now that Forza Horizon 5 has officially gone gold, Playground Games' next racing game is set to race past its competition on its intended date. To further prove that it's going to release on November 9, 2021, Playground is already giving players a chance to pre-load the game ahead of its release date a few weeks from now.

Forza Horizon 5 races past the 100GB mark, according to the latest preload data.

While this is certainly good news, we'd like to warn you that the game isn't going to come easy on your hard drive.

Forza Horizon 5 is massive, both literally and figuratively

If it's any consolation, Forza Horizon 5 does look gorgeous.

Most already know what to expect from Forza Horizon 5. Playground has done an excellent job talking up how massive the game is going to be, even going as far as to release a new teaser trailer at Gamescom 2021. However, fans probably didn't expect Forza Horizon 5 to come with such a significant jump in storage space consumed compared to Forza Horizon 4.

Forza Horizon 4 isn't the largest game out there in terms of file size, but at 80GB, it's going to eat a chunk of your storage drive. However, it appears that Forza Horizon 5 is going to make that look rather small in comparison.

With Forza Horizon 5 now available for preload, we now know that the game will clock in at 103GB on PC and Xbox Series S/X and 116GB on the Xbox One.

So, while it is good news that anyone with a Forza Horizon 5 preorder or active Xbox Game Pass subscription can already start preloading the game right away, you might want to make sure that you have enough storage space left.

Forza Horizon 5 is the first Forza game to be available on Xbox Game Pass at launch.

What's interesting here is that Forza Horizon 5 could have taken much more space. According to Turn 10 Studios communications specialist Alan Walsh, the studio optimized its "assets for higher bandwidth streaming". This also explains why Forza Horizon 5 takes up significantly more space on the Xbox One compared to the Xbox Series S/X.

With that said, 103GB is not a big price to pay to get a chance to play one of the best racing games out there. Not to mention, Forza Horizon 5 is available as part of the Xbox Game Pass as announced at E3 2021, so you can use the money that you just saved from buying the game and subscribing to Xbox Game Pass to get yourself a larger compatible storage drive.
