Prolific Hollywood actor, Christian Bale, is a man of many talents and faces. He's played the role of hero, villain, and anti-hero, throughout his many years in Hollywood.
Everybody knows about Bale's time as Batman in Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy. The critically-acclaimed film series went on to earn a total of nearly $2.5 billion at the global box office.
But while most people these days know Bale as Batman, he is now set to take on a more antagonistic role in the MCU.
Who is the God Butcher?
After going with more mainstream comic book characters, the MCU is digging deep into the Marvel treasure chest in recent films. Gorr, the God Butcher, isn't the most popular Marvel Comics character. You'd be forgiven for not knowing who he is and complaining why a relative nobody has been tabbed as the villain in Thor's fourth MCU movie outing, Thor: Love and Thunder.
Of course, while Gorr isn't well-known, he is a very powerful villain. In the current continuity, he comes from a desolate planet and has very unfortunate beginnings. Having been brought up to pray to the gods, Gorr eventually lost faith in the deities after losing his entire family to famine, for which he was banished.
One fateful day, he came across two gods battling, one of which bonded with him and allowed him to kill the other of the two gods. Since then, Gorr has sought vengeance against all gods who never cared to answer his prayers.
With Thor being the Norse god of thunder, he and Gorr were bound to meet someday. It just so happens that it will take place in Thor: Love and Thunder.

As per the Daily Mail, filming of Thor: Love and Thunder is well underway and we finally got our first look at Christian Bale as Gorr the God Butcher.
Unfortunately, it's hard to tell exactly what is happening during filming and why Bale was on his own. However, what is most interesting is that Bale is wearing a full-on prosthetic suit. It would have been understandable for Taika Waititi to go the full VFX route. Instead, the decision to use prosthetics and not do full CGI means that we can expect Gorr to look just as good as Paul Bettany's Vision and Dave Bautista's Drax the Destroyer, among others.
With Thor: Love and Thunder expected to premiere on May 6, 2022, it's only a matter of time before we get to see Christian Bale's Gorr in action via a teaser trailer.
We already know what kind of things Waititi is capable of after seeing Cate Blanchett's Hela in Thor: Ragnarok. Bale's Gorr should present a similar challenge for Thor and his allies considering how he's taken out literal gods many times before.
Here's to hoping that the teaser trailer comes sooner rather than later.
