Director celebrates the first day of filming of Extraction 2 in Prague

Cameras have finally started rolling for the sequel to Netflix's hit action film, Extraction.

A lot has happened since Chris Hemsworth starred as Tyler Rake in 2020's Extraction. For one, it's no longer the most viewed Netflix film, within a month of release, in Netflix history. Or, at least, that's probably what's going to happen.

It will be interesting to see how Extraction 2 will try and top the first film.

With Red Notice overtaking Birdbox as Netflix's most-watched film (per number of hours), it feels like it's only a matter of time before the ensemble cast of Netflix's latest blockbuster film will break Extraction's previous record of 99 million views on the streaming platform.

Having said that, Extraction's sequel has already started filming, which should give the Chris Hemsworth-led action movie another shot at Netflix's top spot.

Judging by how long it took for the cameras to start rolling, director Sam Hargrave couldn't help but celebrate.

Extraction 2 finally starts filming after several delays

Hemsworth promised that the sequel will improve on the first film in every way.

The COVID-19 pandemic has delayed several films and movies already, including Extraction 2. After the first movie saw most of the action in Dhaka, Bangladesh, the sequel will move locations to a colder climate. But, before the cameras could start rolling, the crew had to adjust first. Initially, the plan was for the movie to film in Australia with the crew preparing for it in late August. Unfortunately, because of COVID-19 concerns, the production team decided to move the location to Czech Republic's capital, Prague.

What's interesting here is that Hargrave appears to be satisfied with the change in location, which is especially noteworthy when you consider that Hargrave is wearing more layers to protect himself from the elements, as per his latest Instagram post.

With the release of the Extraction 2 teaser trailer back in September, fans know that Rake survived the events of the first film. Other than that, Netflix nor Hemsworth nor Hargrave has revealed more plot details about the upcoming sequel. The good news here is that Hemsworth has devoted himself to preparing for Extraction 2 while also promising that the sequel will be "bigger and badder".

With production expected to end in March 2022, Extraction 2 won't have a set release date or window at least until then. But, if you're looking for a chance to catch Hemsworth in action, you'll be able to watch him in Thor: Love and Thunder on July 8, 2022.
