It appears that December 19 is going to be a special day for Yellowstone fans. The hit Paramount series' prequel is set to premiere on the said date. Before that, Paramount also confirmed that a new episode of Yellowstone is going to air, making it a double-header kind of day for those who'd like to know more about the Dutton family.
Get to know the Dutton family history in 1883
Spearheaded by Yellowstone's co-creator, Taylor Sheridan, 1883 will take audiences to the bloody and gruesome past of the Duttons and how they came about owning their ranch in Montana. The trailer does a great job of setting up a story of an impoverished family going on a journey of exploration and discovery as they start from the ground up to look for a new place to call their own.
Here is a complete list of 1883's main cast and their roles:
- Sam Elliot as Shea Brennan
- Tim McGraw as James Dutton
- Faith Hill as Margaret Dutton
- Isabel May as Elsa Dutton
- LaMonica Garrett as Thomas
Judging from the words "the road west was paved with blood" alone, you could tell that 1883 is going to tell quite the action-packed story. McGraw's character, James, is someone willing to do anything to keep his family safe as they travel across dangerous territory filled with malicious travelers and dangerous Native Americans.
With James saying that the Duttons will "keep headin' north until I find country that's worth the journey," we can assume that he's determined to keep his family together and alive at all costs.
Yellowstone is one of Paramount's most popular ongoing series. The series follows the Dutton family, now in its sixth generation and led by Kevin Costner's John Dutton. Whereas the show's plot revolves mostly around family drama and fending off others who are seeking to control the family's land, the prequel will start with where it all began.
