Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster might be coming to consoles soon

Square Enix continues to add to its stacked lineup of upcoming RPGs that's coming in the next few months and next year.

Square Enix appears to be gearing up to add to its already stacked list of upcoming games in the coming months.

Many consider Final Fantasy 4 and 6 as some of the best in the entire franchise.

According to eagle-eyed observers, Square Enix might port the Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster series next.

The Final Fantasy Pixel Remasters are composed of the first six games in the mainline Final Fantasy franchise. Weirdly enough, Square Enix only released the collection on Steam and other mobile devices. Because of this, series veterans complained if it will be making its way to consoles next. Although getting a Steam Deck is a nice compromise, the bundle would've fit right in on the series' more traditional platforms.

Now, there's "proof" that the Final Fantasy Pixel Remasters are headed to the PlayStation, Xbox, and maybe even the Switch.

Final Fantasy 5 is a criminally underrated entry to the series.

If you head on over to the release schedule page for Square Enix's upcoming games, you'll see that the Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster series is listed as "TBA" without a platform. Some pointed out that it could just be an old listing Square Enix forgot to update.

But, it contains info on Tactics Ogre Reborn, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, and Octopath Traveler II, so the page must have been updated over the past month.

Square Enix is set to celebrate the franchise's 35th anniversary later this year. Most likely, the Final Fantasy Pixel Remasters' console version will be one of the big reveals for the said showcase.

The only question now is, when exactly will Square Enix hold a new Final Fantasy event?

There's no word yet from the now RPG-focused company after the sale to Embracer Group earlier this year was finally completed. But, if we believe Naoki Yoshida, who recently said an FF16 trailer is coming in a few weeks, we won't have to wait for a long time.

After all, the only other reason why Square Enix will drop a new trailer for its next mainline Final Fantasy game is if it's for a Square Enix Presents Showcase or a State of Play event.

Square Enix will release the following games in the next few months:

The first three Final Fantasy games deserve a ton more attention.

Fingers crossed, we'll be adding the Final Fantasy Pixel Remasters to that list soon enough.
