Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition has quickly turned into one of the most highly anticipated games of the year into one of the most reviled. The remastered trilogy bundle of PS2-era GTA titles has now joined the likes of Cyberpunk 2077 with messy launches. Now, only time will tell if GTA: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition will survive its disastrous launch, as these games have.
With that said, it appears that the GTA Trilogy's road to recovery is coming much sooner than thought. At least, as far as saving Rockstar Games' reputation is concerned.
Is GTA Trilogy going to run well on mobile devices?
Just days after the first patch for GTA Trilogy went online, photos of what the game could potentially look like when running on iOS and Android devices surfaced online. According to Twitter user Tervel, users can access the settings for the mobile version of GTA Trilogy inside the game's files. To prove this even further, Tervel shared screenshots of the remastered versions of GTA III, Vice City, and San Andreas, all running on the same settings for iOS devices.
While this isn't technically the same as running the actual games on mobile devices, the leaked photos suggest that the mobile port is going to be far better compared to the console and PC versions.
This is how you can approximately expect the VC remaster to look like on mobile, if they don't butcher it even further. I found the mobile settings in one of the files: pic.twitter.com/NKVvsVhLGD

Of course, it would make sense if GTA Trilogy will run better on mobile platforms compared to the PC and console. The developers, Grove Street Games, is a small studio whose previous experience involves working on mobile ports of GTA III, GTA: Vice City, and GTA: San Andreas, as well as GTA: Chinatown Wars. We can't promise anything, but, at the very least, Grove Street Games deserve the benefit of the doubt.
Just try not to expect too much. As we've already mentioned, running the same game on the PC using iOS settings is not the same as playing it on an iOS device. We also don't know if the mobile ports of GTA Trilogy are going to be the same.
TLDR; try to keep your expectations tempered for GTA Trilogy on mobile devices, but at the same time, there is reason to hope.
Unfortunately, Rockstar still hasn't confirmed when GTA Trilogy is coming to iOS and Android devices. According to the initial announcement, the iOS and Android version of Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition is going to release anytime between Q1 to Q2 of 2022.
