Every PS4 Game with a PS5 Enhanced Mode You Can Play Today

For all the hate that Sony receives for not supporting backwards compatibility like Microsoft does, the makers of the PlayStation have done a great job at making sure that PS5 owners can still enjoy older PS4 titles. Making the PS5 backwards compatible means that it has a fairly large games library. Even better, most PS4 titles have been enhanced for the PS5.

Not every PS5 enhancement of a PS4 game is free, but most if not all of them are worth the added premium.

Below is a list of all the PS4 games with a PS5 enhanced mode that's available for you to play, as well as those with enhancements slated to arrive later on.

If you're looking for a list of PS4 games that's prime for a replay on the PS5, this is it.

How Do Free PS5 Upgrades of PS4 Games Work?

Your eligibility to receive free PS5 upgrades of PS4 games varies depending on the publisher and/or studio.

For example, in the case of Final Fantasy VII Remake, the free PS5 upgrade is only available if you purchased a copy of the game. However, if you received your copy as a freebie from PlayStation Plus, you'll have to purchase the PS5 version of the remake, with the InterMISSION DLC included, separately.

Speaking of copies, it might work differently depending on if you have a physical or digital copy of the game.

In Ubisoft's case, you'll need to have the physical copy of Assassin's Creed Valhalla on the PS4 if you want to play it on the PS5. But, if you purchased a digital copy, the upgrade to the PS5 version is straightforward.

Now, it's important to keep in mind that upgrades aren't applied automatically. To make sure that you are playing the PS5 version of the PS4 title, log on to your PlayStation Network account and head to the PlayStation Store.

From there, you should be able to see your library of games there and check if there is a PS5 upgrade available or if you have already upgraded the game to its PS5 version.
