Elizabeth Olsen teases a Scarlet Witch project in the works at Marvel

Elizabeth Olsen fully transitioned from Wanda Maximoff to the Scarlet Witch in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

Elizabeth Olsen’s last appearance as Scarlet Witch was in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, where her character, who was under the Darkhold’s influence, played the film’s antagonist. However, at the end of the film, she'd buried herself under the rubble of Mount Wungabore, which led many to believe she'd met her demise.

Elizabeth Olsen's last appearance was in Doctor Stranger and the Multiverse of Madness but she could be making a return as the character in the nearest future.

While there is no confirmation of her death or otherwise, Olsen has expressed her desire to return to the franchise during a question-and-answer segment at Kuwait’s Comfest Con 2023.

A fan asked the 34-year-old actress about her preferred storyline for the character and she responded that she would rather not reveal her wishes. She cited the possibility that she could spoil a potential future Scarlet Witch project as an excuse for her silence.

In her words, "Well, honestly, if I were to tell you exactly what I would want, I think I would be spoiling something. Because Kevin Feige genuinely asks us what we want to do with the character. Then, he does it. So, I think what I… I don't know if I can share. I just want to come back."

Further, Olsen expressed her gratitude for the character’s growth within the MCU since her first appearance as the Sokovia-born Wanda Maximoff. She revealed that when she originally signed her contract with Marvel, she was unaware of how long she would be working with the franchise. Olsen stated that her contract included an appearance in "two movies and maybe a cameo in another one." She would go on to appear in at least six titles and lead her own miniseries, too.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness premiered last year and was a critical hit that did well at the global box office. The film featured Sam Raimi's first return to directing comic book films after Spider-Man 3 in 2007. Raimi took over duties from Scott Derrickson, who initially had different plans for the movie.

One of Olsen's motivations for returning as the character is to redeem her actions in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

While Olsen didn’t confirm her character’s return, her comment certainly suggests it. Besides, during a recent interview with Variety, she stated, "Wanda is heading, hopefully, towards some sort of redemption. I don't think any of these characters are ever really gone. Especially since you introduced the Multiverse to multiply all of our bodies and other universes."

In the end, Olsen might not have a choice but to return as the Scarlet Witch. Last year, reports emerged that she'd signed a new contract with Marvel that will see her feature in the franchise for the next decade. According to the report, the contract includes a solo film which, if true, will mean fans will finally get to see her lead her own film.

Even though the future of Olsen’s Scarlet Witch is undecided, the character might return in Agatha: Coven of Chaos and/or Avengers: The Kang Dynasty so fans who want to see her soon might get their wish sooner than later.
