Finally, Elden Ring is getting ray-tracing support in its newest update. FromSoftware announced the feature well before it was released and it's finally here.

Patch 1.09 for Elden Ring brings several changes to the reigning Game of the Year with the highlight being the addition of ray tracing. It upgrades the visuals of what is already a very stunning open-world game.
Ray tracing support is available for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X. Players can enable ray tracing in the settings menu by choosing the Game Options category for consoles and Graphics for PC. Gamers may need to restart the game before the changes take effect.
While ray tracing for Elden Ring sounds cool, it does come with a warning from the studio. Frame rate and resolution may degrade when enabling ray tracing.
"Please note that performance – such as frame rate and resolution – may be impacted while playing with Ray Tracing on," Bandai Namco shared. FromSoftware only recommends using ray tracing on 1080p resolution.
FromSoftware also published the hardware specifications needed to run ray tracing on Elden Ring.
For the minimum requirement, gamers will need to have an Intel Core i5-10600K or AMD Ryzen 5 3600XT CPU, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Ti or AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT GOU, and 16GB Ram. The studio recommends an i7-10700K or Ryzen 7 3800XT CPU and an RTX 3070 Ti or AMD 6900 XT GPU to run ray tracing at high-quality settings.
Aside from ray-tracing, the new update also adds some gameplay balancing including some much-needed nerfs to PVP.
Bleed and Intelligence builds have been nerfed for update 1.09. The effectiveness of the Lords of Blood’s Exultation Talisman and the White Mask helmet, which are core items for most Bleed builds, have had their effectiveness reduced.
Intelligence-based spells Founding Rain of Stars and Terra Magica also had their effectiveness nerfed for PVP. The damage buffs of several Tears have also been reduced when activated with the Flask of Wondrous Physick.
There is a buffs to the power, range, and grab angle of the Lifesteal Fist skill. The Inescapable Frenzy incantation also gets a power and grab angle increase in the latest update.
Many players are currently engaging in PVP with the Colosseum update that came out a few months ago, so it's natural for the latest gameplay adjustments to target the PVP duels.
FromSoftware recently announced that a new DLC titled Shadow of the Erdtree is coming to Elden Ring. While the studio has not yet shared the details of the new expansion, players speculate that it is related to the story of Miquela and Malenia. The studio has not yet announced the release date of Shadow of the Erdtree. However, there are rumors that it may arrive shortly after the release of Armoured Core VI: Fires of Rubicon later this year.
Elden Ring is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
