Grand Theft Auto Online makes Rockstar Games hundreds of millions of dollars a year. More importantly, GTA Online hasn't been showing any signs of slowing down. Now that Rockstar has proven that the online model works, it only makes sense for the studio to release a follow-up or expansion to GTA Online, presumably right around the same time that Grand Theft Auto 6 is out.

Unfortunately, we haven't heard many details about a GTA Online successor. At least, that was the case until now.
According to one of the most reliable Rockstar insiders around, Tez2, the still-in-development game footage of GTA 6 that was leaked last year included snippets of text with info about GTA Online 2.
The insider also added that now that the sales and stocks of the PS5 and Xbox Series S/X have picked up, Rockstar will start "revealing more info about the next GTA or maybe even start the marketing campaign."
Insiders are still uncovering more information from the massive leak last year. This reminds us just how massive the security breach was. Hopefully, the next time we'll hear about GTA 6 comes from an official source.
For now, the best recourse is to sight tight, follow all the leaks, and compare them to any official details that Rockstar will inevitably confirm.
But, if we're being honest, our bet is for Rockstar to release GTA 6 sometime after its massive release pipeline of projects through FY2025 ends. This would put GTA 6's release closer to the launch of the next generation of consoles, allowing it to take advantage of being released on two console generations within a few years of each other, similar to what happened with GTA 5.
If you ask some sources though, they insist that GTA 6 will be revealed later this year ahead of a 2025 release.
