In the teaser, the player takes control of Dani, one of the six playable characters in the game. Dani is a "unique slayer build—tenacious yet balanced—is well-suited to an agile style of combat." According to the trailer, her mission is to "try and reach the Halperin Hotel."

Deep Silver shared more information about the game. "Armed with an array of weapons, each with their own unique, brutal fighting style and endless opportunities for upgrades, watch as slayer Dani meets Standard zombies (Walkers, Shamblers, Runners), Variant zombies (grenadier walkers), and Apex zombies (hyper mutated zombies), each one with its own horrifying powers and behaviors."

The new trailer showcases the Skill Cards system that players can use to customize their slayer’s abilities. "Players will also see how tapping into Curveballs and combining a powerful set of Skill Cards—which enhance abilities and create unique player builds—assist Dani as she hacks and slashes her way through the beginning areas of HELL-A."

This new Skill card system has great potential in creating unique and fun builds suited to the playstyle of each gamer. It will be interesting to watch what players come up with when the game is released.

Dambuster Studios has a new character modeling system for the zombies found in-game. This new system is called FLESH (Fully Locational Evisceration System for Humanoids). According to the studio, "crushing bones, slicing zombies, and melting flesh have never felt nor looked so satisfying" with this new system.

The showcase also highlights Fury Mode. Players can tap into the corrupted DNA of their characters to unleash a set of zombie-like abilities. Dani’s Fury mode ability gives her enhanced strength and devastating unarmed attacks that can fling enemies across the room.

After several years in development hell, Dead Island 2 finally went gold in February. Dambuster Studios not only announced the completion of the game’s development but also that the game will be launching a week earlier.
