Disney Plus' Daredevil reboot will bring back Jon Bernthal as Punisher

It looks like the Daredevil isn't the only one who's going to be born again as the Punisher will be right there alongside him.

Netflix's Marvel TV shows, which have since been reacquired by Disney and renamed "The Defenders Saga", were far from perfect. But, it had a handful of bright spots. The two of them were Charlie Cox and Vincent D'Onofrio, who portrayed fan-favorite characters, Matt Murdock and Wilson Fisk, respectively, to a T.

It looks like Disney will be bringing back most of the popular actors from Netflix's Marvel TV shows.

Another is Jon Bernthal, who played Frank Castle, better yet known as the Punisher. Although there've been several rumors that Disney will bring back the leads from the said shows, the Mouse House has only confirmed the returns of Cox and D'Onofrio - until now.

The Hollywood Reporter reveals that Jon Bernthal has signed on the dotted line to reprise his former role in Daredevil: Born Again, which recently started filming.

It remains unclear if Bernthal will join Cox and D'Onofrio in other MCU TV shows or if the other leads from Netflix's Marvel TV shows will join him. At the moment, Cox has appeared in Spider-Man: No Way Home and She-Hulk while D'Onofrio was in Hawkeye. In the interim, fans have had to sift through speculation that both will appear in other shows before then.

To be more specific, D'Onofrio is expected to play a bigger role in Echo, an upcoming Marvel TV series that might premiere on Disney Plus later this year.

Having said that, the anticipation for Daredevil: Born Again, an 18-episode TV series that might or might not premiere in Spring 2024, just got a lot higher.

Disney has the potential to do what Netflix couldn't with The Punisher, Daredevil, and Kingpin, among others.

We're still two years away from the premiere of Daredevil's return on streaming platforms, so a lot can happen. For now, fans can look forward to the premiere of the next MCU movie, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, on May 5. According to its director, James Gunn, his final outing with the MCU will be the longest in the franchise yet.
