Call of Duty: Vanguard Alpha details spotted on PlayStation Store database

Leakers just spotted the file size of the Call of Duty: Vanguard alpha, Champion Hill.

Alpha tests are par for the course when it comes to big shooter titles like Call of Duty and Battlefield. These early playtests give a handful of players the chance to check out what the latest Call of Duty game is like, months before its actual release. At the same time, it also allows the dev team to test out certain features and get a feel of what players think about them.

The first Call of Duty: Vanguard Alpha test is believed to kick off in late August.

With that said, Sledgehammer Games' Call of Duty: Vanguard is the next installment in the Call of Duty franchise. Given its confirmed release date of November 5, fans are expecting details of an Alpha test to drop soon.

The latest intel suggests when the first Call of Duty: Vanguard might take place and what the file size is.

When will the Call of Duty: Vanguard Alpha start?

If the reports are true, then Vanguard's Alpha period will be exclusive to PlayStation owners.

According to an earlier report, Activision plans on holding a two-day PlayStation-exclusive Alpha test for Vanguard starting on August 27.

Keep in mind that this isn't confirmed information. However, the same report claims that Activision was aiming for a November 5 launch for the game, which did turn out to be 100% accurate. So, you might still want to circle that date on your calendars if you have a PlayStation 4 or PlayStation 5.

What's the file size of the Call of Duty: Vanguard Alpha?

Another report shed some light on important details about the Vanguard Alpha test. In particular, what it is going to be about and its file size.

All three previous Call of Duty games have a battle royale mode. For Black Ops 4, it was Blackout. For Modern Warfare, it was Warzone. Then, for Cold War, it was Multi-Team Elimination. Thus, Champion Hill likely refers to the battle royale mode for Vanguard, which will reportedly be around 19GB to 21GB in size.

The leaker speculates that the Vanguard Alpha pre-load will start on August 26.

What's next after the Call of Duty: Vanguard Alpha?

With August 27 just a few days away, we can expect Activision to start dropping details about the Alpha test soon.

If we circle back to the previous report, the leaker added that Activision plans on holding another PlayStation-exclusive Open Beta test from September 10 to 12. After this, Activision is going to hold an Open Beta test for all platforms from September 16 to September 20.

Judging by how Electronic Arts and 343 Industries have held technical previews for their Battlefield 2042 and Halo Infinite, respectively, we wouldn't be surprised if Activision did the same thing.
