The announcement of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 has taken the spotlight in recent weeks. However, the latest entry, Modern Warfare 2, is still going and Infinity Ward has a lot in store for players with the mid-season content.
Season 5 Reloaded is coming to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone in a couple of days. Activision has already released the list of features and changes coming to multiplayer, battle royale, and DMZ when the new content drops on Wednesday. We expect the full patch notes to be released alongside the upcoming update.
The mid-season update will feature a new Multiplayer map, a Resurgence map for battle royale, and a new event. Also coming in Season 5 Reloaded are three new weapons and three new operators including Lara Croft from Tomb Raider and rapper 21 Savage. DMZ will see the addition of new faction missions and new upgrade tasks.
The Multiplayer mode will feature a new map in DRC – Zone 1. DMZ players will be familiar with the map as it is part of the Building 21 exclusion zone. The new map has been designed for fast-paced combat, featuring several new shortcuts and flanking routes. A tactical deep dive into the new map will be available before the release of Season 5 Reloaded.
Warzone will see the addition of Armored Royale and Fort Resurgence to the rotation. At launch, Fort Royale will have its own playlist separate from the normal rotation of Ashika Island and Vondel. It is likely that the Fort Resurgence will be available for several weeks after its debut.
Fort Resurgence will be set in Al Bagra Fortress in the south of Al Mazrah. The map will have a maze of corridors and there will likely be a lot of close-quarters battles in the mode. We expect that the new Resurgence map will host a maximum of 52 players similar to Ashika Island.
Armored Royale will be making an appearance for the first time in Warzone 2. In the new mode, four teams will spawn with an MRAP vehicle. Teams will have to defend their vehicle and prevent it from being destroyed by other players. The vehicles can be upgraded in buy stations and repaired in gas stations.
Players can respawn into the match as long as their MRAP remains intact. If the vehicle is destroyed, operators can purchase a replacement MRAP to allow teammates to respawn.
New Shadow Company faction missions will be added to the DMZ extraction shooter mode with Season 5 Reloaded. Tier 3, 4, and 5 will continue the game's narrative and task operators to takedown "Rhino", the commander that was previously located inside the Koschei Complex.
There will also be new Communication Station upgrade missions added with Season 5 Reloaded. The upgrades include increased UAV and SAM Site durations.
Three new weapons will be added to all modes with the mid-season update. Season 5 Reloaded adds the Pickaxe as the fourth melee weapon operators can use. The Pickaxe can be unlocked by getting 15 operator kills with melee weapons.
The 9mm Daemon will be the new semi-automatic handgun that can be unlocked by getting 15 operator headshot kills with a pistol. Season 5 Reloaded will also feature the Lachmann Shroud, a new SMG with an integrated suppressor.
Season 5 Reloaded will also have a new Weapon Camo Challenge event similar to previous seasons. Completing the camo challenge will reward players with a Mastery Weapon Camo which will carry over to Modern Warfare 3.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Season 5 Reloaded is dropping on August 30.
This sounds like it may be the best season yet!!
It is about time! I have been wanting them to bring back AR for a while now 😀
I am more excited for the new weapons. I cannot wait to try out that 9mm Daemon.
Never played this gamemode. I am still new to Warzone but it sounds like a blast. It is like an upgraded king search and destroy of sorts.
