Activision continues to reveal new details for the upcoming second season of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. In season 2, players will have more reason to grind as Activision has raised the level cap to 500, with more Prestige ranks.

Activision has released a new blog post detailing the roadmap for the second season of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. Among other revelations, the company recently confirmed that the popular Gun Game mode will be returning in Season 2.
Activision launched the first season of Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 with a level cap of 250 and 5 Prestige Ranks. Players who want to unlock the Prestige challenges had to progress by playing any of the multiplayer game modes including battle royale, multiplayer, and DMZ.
Activision will be adding an additional 250 new levels for players in the new season. Gamers can now reach level 500 with season 2. Progress made in season 1 will carry over to the new season, striking a balance between a higher goal without it seeming too intimidating.
Prestige Rank cap will also be increased to Prestige 10 in season 2, matching the level cap increase to 500. Here are the following Prestige Ranks that can be unlocked in Season 2:
- Prestige 6: Unlocked at Level 300
- Prestige 7: Unlocked at Level 350
- Prestige 8: Unlocked at Level 400
- Prestige 9: Unlocked at Level 450
- Prestige 10: Unlocked at Level 500
Call of Duty players will get a new icon beside their name with every Prestige Rank that they unlock. Each Prestige Rank will also unlock a set of new challenges. Completing these challenges will earn a new Calling Card. Animated Calling Cards can be unlocked by completing a full set of challenges.
Season 2 will also add five new weapons: ISO Hemlock Assault Rifle, KV Broadside Shotgun, Dual Kodachis Melee Weapon, Crossbow, and Tempus Torrent Marksman Rifle. The new AR, Shotgun, and Kodachi will be unlocked at the launch of Season 2 via the battle pass. The Crossbow can be unlocked by completing a challenge event.
The new Marksman Rifle will be available midseason along with a piece of new lethal equipment, the Shuriken. Each new weapon will have new camos that players can unlock by performing weapon challenges.
Operator Daniel “Ronin” Shinoda will also be making a return in season 2. Ronin is an ex-Special Forces operator that uses unconventional methods including the use of the Dual Kodachi for brutal close-quarters kills.
Season 2 for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will be arriving on February 15, 2023.
