Sony has been aggressively exploring movie adaptations for its most popular titles. It looks like Destiny will be the next game making its way to both the big and small screen, with former Warner Bros talent helping steer the jumpship.

Destiny has become one of the biggest IPs in the video game industry. Bungie is looking to take the title to new mediums similar to how Halo expanded to books, animated films, and TV shows. The studio looks to capitalize on the popularity of the Destiny franchise as it moves to other forms of media.
Bungie has reportedly hired a former Warner Bros Discovery exec Gabriel VanHuss to help out with expanding the Destiny series to other media. VanHuss’s new post will be Head of Linear Media for the Destiny IP. The exec will oversee the development of films, TV shows, comics, and other projects for the Destiny universe.
"I recently took the gig as Head of Linear Media for the Destiny franchise at Bungie," says VanHuss in a LinkedIn post. "This new position will work with the Destiny Universe Leadership team to create strategy and execute the operations for expansion of Destiny into new media, including TV, films, books, comics, and audio formats."
"Destiny has a universe worth of stories waiting to be told, and I look forward to connecting best-in-class partners to our amazing creative team to bring them to life for current and new fans. Eyes up, guardian!"
Sony is heavily invested in turning its video game properties into films and TV shows. The company has found success with the live-action adaptation of Uncharted and The Last of Us, though in terms of popularity only one really shone.
Uncharted stars Mark Wahlberg and Tom Holland and is based on the game series created by Naughty Dog. The film became the sixth highest-grossing video game film of all time, earning $401 million from its theatrical release.
PlayStation Productions also released HBO’s The Last of Us which has been well received by fans. Based on the post-apocalyptic survival game of the same name from Naughty Dog, the series stars Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey. The series has been renewed for a second season with rumors that a third season will be added later on.
Sony will also be releasing two live-action adaptations this year in Gran Turismo and Twisted Metal. Gran Turismo is an upcoming film that is based on the true-to-life story of a gamer turned professional racing driver Jann Mardenborough. Twisted Metal will be a TV series launching on Peacock in July and is based on the vehicular combat game, starring Anthony Mackie.
Sony has not yet announced any upcoming Destiny-related shows or films. It will likely be a while before we see Destiny movies and shows.
