Blizzard announced last year it will hold a public beta for Diablo 4 closer to launch. With the action RPG scheduled to come out this year, the studio has already started sharing new information about the upcoming game, but it hasn't confirmed the schedule of the open beta. Thankfully, Blizzard has confirmed that an announcement is coming soon.

Recently, Blizzard Senior Vice President Rod Fergusson took the time to interact with gamers on Twitter. One fan asked Fergusson if he can give gamers information about the open beta. The Blizzard boss hinted that the announcement will happen in an upcoming event.
"Soon!," Fergusson tweeted. "If only we were presenting at some sort of gaming moment this month where one might announce such a thing."

The cryptic message from Fergusson points to the studio’s participation in IGN’s Fan Fest 2023 later this month. The showcase event will be taking place on February 17th and 18th and will give players a sneak peek at upcoming games such as Hogwarts Legacy, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, and Street Fighter 6.
Diablo 4 will likely be shown at the event as it is the only upcoming game title from Blizzard that is scheduled for release this year. Based on Fergusson’s tweet, Blizzard will also likely be announcing details of the public beta at the event.
If the release date is to be followed, the public beta could happen within the period between March to May this year. Diablo 4 is scheduled to launch on June 6.
However, the release window for Diablo 4 may still change, which will consequently affect the public beta test period. There is a rumor that Blizzard plans to push back the release date of its flagship game.
According to a reliable insider, the upcoming action RPG is still "in rough shape", making the June 6 release date "questionable." While the source has credibility, there is no evidence to back up the claims of the delay. Blizzard has not officially announced that the game is being delayed.
Blizzard already held a closed beta test for a select group of long-time Diablo franchise players. The aim was to gather feedback for the end game of the upcoming Diablo 4. Blizzard opted not to have a beta test for the campaign to avoid spoiling the plot of the upcoming game.
Diablo 4 is coming to PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S on June 6.
