Based on the game listing by the Portuguese site Gaming Replay, Biomutant will be released on the Nintendo Switch on October 25, 2022. The listing was recently spotted by GoNintendo and checking out the site, it is still live (update: the listing has been taken down).
The listing provides a price tag and box art for the game. The listed price of €54.99 is close to the price of the game on Xbox.
This is not the first pre-mature listing by Gaming Replay. The site previously listed a Mass Effect Remastered Trilogy but incorrectly added the Nintendo Switch as one of the consoles it would release on.
Biomutant is an open-world action role-playing game set in a post-apocalyptic world filled with mutated animals. The game has a third-person view and combines melee combat and shooting mechanics. It has a heavy emphasis on customization with the player able to craft weapons and acquire mutations. Players also need to acquire specific gear or mech to explore certain areas of the game.
The game was released to much hype but it did not do so well in terms of day one sales. It eventually sold over one million copies and will soon be released on the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.
While sales were good, fans and critics were underwhelmed by the overall game. Biomutant had a features list that looked promising but ultimately was underdeveloped.
For instance, the game’s open-world exploration was not as exciting as others in the genre. Relationship building also did not have an overall impact on the game which is something you would expect from an RPG.
Release on Current-Gen and Nintendo Direct
Biomutant will come out on the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S on September 6, 2022. The current-gen port will bring 4K resolution and 60 FPS gameplay.
Players who bought the game on PS4 and Xbox One will be given a free update should they wish to replay the game on newer consoles and see the upgraded graphics. Progress made on last-gen can be copied to the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.
If the Gaming Replay listing proves to be correct, then the announcement for the Nintendo Switch port will come very soon. Reports suggest that the next Nintendo Direct presentation will happen this month.
