Thoma is a 4-star Pyro character introduced in the 2.2 Genshin Impact update. Thoma is the housekeeper of the Kamisato Clan and his kit specializes in protecting his comrades in battle. Thoma is also a "Fixer" in Inazuma and came to aid the Traveler during their arrival in Inazuma. He is a great Shield Support, allowing your Main DPS characters to stay in the field for longer. He is also a good Pyro Sub-DPS, who can apply the Pyro element on enemies even when he is not on the field.

Swiftshatter Spear is Thoma's normal, charged, and plunging attack. He can perform up to 4 attacks and his Charged attack allows him to lunge forward, damaging enemies along the way.

Blazing Blessing

Blazing Blessing is Thoma's Elemental Skill. Activating this skill will cause Thoma to lunge forward, kicking enemies and causing AoE Pyro damage. Thoma will also cast a defensive Blazing Barrier and apply the Pyro element to himself. The barrier's damage absorption depends on Thoma's Maximum Health.

The barrier can absorb Pyro damage with 250% efficacy. If you cast another Blazing Barrier and you have a remaining damage absorption on the previous Blazing Barrier, it will stack and the duration of the barrier will be renewed.

Crimson Ooyoroi

Crimson Ooyoroi is Thoma's elemental burst, casting this will cause Thoma to slice at enemies, causing AoE Pyro damage and activating Scorching Ooyoroi. When Scorching Ooyoroi is activated, the character on the field will activate Fiery Collapse, applying Pyro damage to enemies. They will also summon a Blazing Barrier, which can be stacked with Thoma's Blazing Blessing.

The character on the field can trigger the Fiery Collapse every 1 second. The effect of the Scorching Ooyoroi will disappear when Thoma falls, but he does not have to be on the field after activating the skill.

If the character has less than 50% health, this attack bonus increases by 1% of the character's maximum health.

  • 20 Golden Koi

Team Compositions

Thoma is a Pyro support character, adding him to a team with a Pyro DPS like Hu Tao is optimal because he does not heal Hu Tao like Bennett and provides Pyro Resonance. As a shield support character, he is a great addition to vulnerable characters on the field like Eula, allowing them to stay on the field longer.

Hu Tao will act as your main DPS in this team. Thoma is a great addition because he is a Pyro character that applies a shield but does not heal. Hu Tao can have an extra boost in damage while Thoma's shield can keep her in the field for longer. You can also add Xingqiu as a support for extra shield and Hydro element, or Aloy as a Cryo Sub-DPS. Lastly, an anemo character like Sucrose or Venti can keep your enemies clumped up together.

What makes Thoma a great partner to Childe is that he can constantly apply Pyro to enemies even if he is not on the field. Childe will act as your main DPS, causing a constant vaporized elemental reaction to enemies. You have to watch out for Childe's cooldowns, though. Adding Bennett to the team can give you Pyro Resonance and extra healing. Lastly, Kazuha can act as your Anemo support and sub-DPS.

If you are looking for a free-to-play team for Thoma, you can use him as an Elemental Support. Aloy will act as your main DPS, applying Melt reaction to enemies. You can add Kaeya to the team to act as a sub-DPS and battery, giving you Cryo resonance. This will increase your CRIT Rate. Lastly, Barbara can act as your healer and Hydro support character. You can also swap out Aloy or Kaeya with Xiangling if you would like a reverse-melt party instead.
