Sangonomiya Kokomi is a five-star Hydro character in Genshin Impact. She is also the divine priestess of Watatsumi Island and the leader of the Watatsumi Army. Sangonomiya Kokomi is well-versed in military strategy and is a vital part of the rebellion against the Raiden Shogun. She is a great hydro applicator and a healer. Her skills scale off her HP, making her a great Hydro sub-DPS as well.

Kokomi’s Talents

The Shape of Water

Kokomi can perform up to three consecutive normal attacks.

The Shape of Water is Kokomi's normal, charged, and plunging attack. She can perform up to three normal attacks that apply the Hydro element to the enemies. Her charged attack uses Stamina and deals AoE Hydro damage to enemies.

Kurage’s Oath

Activating her elemental skill will leave a Baku-Kurage on the field.

Kurage's Oath is Kokomi's elemental skill. Activating this elemental skill will allow her to summon the Bake-Kurage. The Bake-Kurage will deal Hydro damage to enemies at intervals. It will also heal nearby party members based on Kokomi's maximum HP.  The skill will apply the Hydro element to Kokomi as well, so be sure to avoid any Cryo element to prevent getting frozen.

Nereid’s Ascension

Nereid's Ascension is Kokomi's elemental burst. Using this skill will deal Hydro damage to surrounding enemies and grant Kokomi a Ceremonial Garment. The Ceremonial Garment will increase the damage of Kokomi's attacks based on her maximum health. Whenever her attacks hit enemies, she will heal her party members. She also gains increased resistance to interruption and it allows her to walk through any water surface. Her ceremonial garment will disappear once she leaves the field.

Both of Kokomi's damage and healing are based on her maximum health. Increasing her maximum HP is essential for her to become a great support and healer for the team. She can also constantly apply the Hydro element to enemies even when she is not on the field.

The Everlasting Moonglow is a 5-star catalyst and is the featured weapon for Sangonomiya Kokomi. This Catalyst has an HP substat and gives the effect called Byakuya Kougetsu.  It increases your healing bonus by 10%. Your normal attack is also increased by 1% depending on your maximum HP. After you use your elemental burst, your normal attacks will restore 0.6 energy. This effect has a duration of 12 seconds.

Thrilling Tales of Dragon Slayers

A good and common alternative to the Everlasting Moonglow is the Thrilling Tales of Dragon Slayers. This three-star catalyst has an HP substat and gives you the effect called Heritage. When you switch to a new character while you have this equipped, the new character on the field will have their attack damage increased by 24%. This effect has a duration of 10 seconds and can happen once every 20 seconds.

Prototype Amber is a good 4-star catalyst that you can forge for Kokomi. This weapon has an HP substat and has the effect called Gilding. Whenever you use an elemental burst, you will regenerate 4 energy in two-second intervals. This effect has a duration of 6 seconds. Party members will also heal 4% of their HP while the effect is active. You will need the following materials to forge this catalyst:

  • 1 Northlander Catalyst Billet
  • 50 Crystal Chunk
  • 50 White Iron Chunk
  • 500 Mora

It also has the effect called Ever-Changing. When your normal attack hits enemies, your stamina consumption when sprinting will be decreased by 14%. Sprinting will also increase your attack by 20%. These effects have a duration of 5 seconds.

Kokomi’s Artifact Set

When farming for Sangonomiya Kokomi's artifact pieces, prioritize getting HP% and Hydro damage bonus. You can also look for a healing bonus substat.

Equipping 4 pieces of this artifact will increase the damage of your normal and charged attacks by 30% after you use an elemental skill. This effect has a duration of 15 seconds.

If you would like to focus on increasing Kokomi's health, you can go with 4 pcs. of the Tenacity of Millelith. 2 pieces of this artifact will increase your HP by 20%. If you equip 4 pcs. of this artifact, party members will increase by 20% when your elemental skill hits enemies. Party members will also increase their shield strength by 30%. You do not have to be on the field for this buff to take effect.

Team Compositions

Cryo Team

Having 2 Cryo characters increases your CRIT rate.

One of the best team compositions for Kokomi is the Cryo Team. Adding Ayaka to your team will allow you to permanently freeze enemies because Kokomi does not have to be on the field to constantly apply Hydro to enemies. You can also add Diona to the team to increase your CRIT chance and an Anemo character like Venti or Kazuha can pull in enemies while Ayaka acts as your main DPS. Kokomi will be both your Sub-DPS and healer, alongside Diona.

If you have unlocked the Inazuma region and have the Electro Traveler, you can use Kaeya and Lisa alongside Kokomi to create a Superconduct team. Kaeya can free enemies while Lisa and the Electro traveler will be your main DPS. Kaeya is also a great battery for the team. Kokomi will act as your healer and Hydro applicator to enemies, allowing for an Electro-charged elemental reaction.

This Electro-Charged Team is great for defeating multiple enemies at once. Your main DPS in this team will be Beidou. Fischl will act as your battery and Kazuha can pull in enemies using his skills. Both Kokomi and Fischl do not have to be on the field to apply the Hydro and Electro elements on enemies. Kokomi can also constantly heal Beidou without being on the field.
