Another Baldur's Gate 3 hotfix has been launched by Larian Studios to further resolve the bugs and glitches plaguing the players of the mega-hit CRPG.
Since its worldwide release last August 3, Baldur's Gate 3 has been breaking sales and concurrent players on Steam and other sales platforms such as GOG. But the newest computer roleplaying game based on the Dungeons & Dragons IP is not perfect. Hotfixes have been necessary, as numerous bugs and glitches have been reported, with some even causing crashes and saving issues.
Larian Studios posted the announcement of the third Baldur's Gate 3 hotfix on Steam and shared on their official social media channels.
Hotfix #3 is now live for Baldur’s Gate 3.
This hotfix takes care of over 200 bugs, glitches and more. We’ve also let Scratch off the leash - good boy!

According to Larian Studios, at least 200 bugs and technical issues are addressed with the release of Baldur's Gate's third hotfix:
We've got another hotfix for you today, fixing over 200 bugs, issues and more. Dogs: man's best friend, but remarkably high maintenance. In this update, we've let Scratch off the leash a little bit, and he'll sniff out digging spots by himself! Make sure you give him a pet for every bit of treasure he uncovers, you heartless monsters.
The Blue Behir Dice is also being tweaked so that players who only have the base game have access to it, instead of being limited to Early Access:
Also, we've decided to make the Blue Behir Dice permanently available to all players. Some lucky players may have gotten hold of it early, but we'll just… roll with it.
Other issues include combat, visual artifacts and audio problems, cinematics, and more. The entire list can be found at this link.

While it may seem unusual for a AAA game to receive multiple hotfixes in such a short time, the Baldur's Gate 3 player base are actually happy with it. Many have responded via social media that it is refreshing for a video game developer to actively address technical issues quickly.
On that note, the gaming community and industry are buzzing with activity discussing Baldur's Gate 3. But while most are praising Larian Studios' spectacular product, other video game developers and publishing companies attempt to temper fan expectations. Some go so far as stating the game is an "anomaly" and that it would be unrealistic to consider BG3 as the new standard, given that the game took 6 years and hundreds of staff employed in the development team to produce.
This is not a new baseline for RPGs--this is an anomaly.
Trying to do the same thing in the same way, especially without the same advantages, could kill an entire GROUP of studios.

But while that may be the case, fans and players are hailing it as a new beginning for the RPG genre. Baldur's Gate 3 has certainly defied the conventions expected from AAA RPGs, with the absence of microtransactions, slow and story-centered progression instead of grinding, and simply being a complete experience as a single purchase.
Working with Wizards of the Coast, Larian Studios successfully adapted both the Dungeons & Dragons Fifth Edition rules and the Forgotten Realms campaign setting. It may be the closest adaptation of any video game of the tabletop D&D experience, even comparing the first two Baldur's Gate entries by BioWare and the Dungeons & Dragons Online MMO by Standing Stone Games.
Baldur's Gate is available through Steam and GOG for Windows PC, with a later release for the Sony Playstation 5 on September 6, 2023. No specific date has been confirmed for the macOS and Xbox Series X/S platforms.
