DC Studios is in the midst of a massive overhaul as it recasts some of its most recognizable superheroes. One actor who is surely staying with DC is Aquaman star, Jason Momoa. However, it's not certain he's coming back as Aquaman or playing another character in the DC Universe. But, while we don't know what's in store for Momoa, he might have just let it slip that he'll be staying on board as the DCU's Arthur Curry for the foreseeable future.
Momoa met with James Gunn and Peter Safran last week and the actor appears to have left the studio in a cheerful mood as he teased he'll be staying for four more years with DC and Warner Bros. Discovery. The actor did not reveal what his next project would be for the franchise.
During a recent interview with Variety, the actor reluctantly teased Aquaman 3 after being asked if the third movie will be "a fun fish tale" as opposed to the intense tone of his upcoming documentary Deep Rising. Momoa responds, "I highly doubt it. I'm too dramatic."

The actor’s brief and reluctant reply cast doubt that a possible threequel will have a more lighthearted tone. However, it can also be interpreted that Momoa doubts that he is coming back as Aquaman. Some reports suggest Aquaman isn't part of the planned DCU reboot but this has neither been confirmed nor denied.
Jason Momoa revealed during the interview that good things are coming for him and the DC Universe after meeting with Gunn and Safran. The actor stated that he will "always be Aquaman" but did tease that there may be other characters that he will be playing.
"It’s very, very wonderful," Momoa said of his meeting with the heads of DC Studios."I’m in the house of Warner Bros. and they are liking a lot of stuff I’m doing. We got a lot of good things coming."
He goes on to explain that he wrote the initial draft for Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom and it centers around a relatable topic which is climate change. "The beautiful thing (about Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom) is that me and my partner wrote the first treatment for it and it was about a 55-page treatment, and a lot of it has to deal with me talking to the U.N. about what’s happening with the melting ice caps," Momoa shared.
He adds, "There’s no far-off galaxy coming to destroy us or aliens from another place. It’s us ruining our planet. We need to get it together and save our home."

The actor concludes that he will always be known as Aquaman in the DC Universe. No other actor can take that part away from him. He did however tease that he could be playing another role in the DCU.
"I’ll always be Aquaman. Ain’t anyone coming in there and taking a shit. There might be some other characters, too. I can play other things, too. I can be funny and savage and charming once in a while," Momoa ends.
DC Studios is rumored to be doing a soft reboot of the DC Universe with the studio looking for a young actor to portray the Man of Steel after letting go of Henry Cavill. Dwayne Johnson is also not returning as Black Adam.
Xolo Maridueña was recently brought on board to star in Blue Beetle while Ezra Miller may be staying as The Flash. Finally, DC Studios' other DC Comics project, the BatVerse, seems to be expanding.
We will know James Gunn’s plans for Jason Momoa and Aquaman after Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom premieres on December 25.
