Amazon will be cutting ties with Jeremy Clarkson

The Grand Tour presenter has received massive backlash for his comments about Meghan Markle.

Jeremy Clarkson is known for his scathing comments on and in his various shows, books, and newspaper columns, but it appears the TV presenter may have gone too far this time.

Amazon will be parting ways with Jeremy Clarkson once the current shows are done filming.

New information suggests that Amazon may sever ties with the long-time car show host following his comments on the Duchess of Essex, Meghan Markle. Variety reports Amazon is likely to part ways with Clarkson after finishing the already commissioned seasons for The Grand Tour and Clarkson's Farm.

In his December 16th column for the British tabloid The Sun, Clarkson spoke negatively about Markle’s "influence" on her spouse Prince Harry. The Grand Tour presenter wrote that he "hated her on a cellular level." He went on to include a reference to an infamous scene from HBO's Game of Thrones involving Cersei Lannister being dragged through the streets of King’s Landing.

"At night, I’m unable to sleep as I lie there, grinding my teeth and dreaming of the day when she is made to parade naked through the streets of every town in Britain while the crowds chant, ‘Shame!’ and throw lumps of excrement at her," Clarkson wrote.

Prince Harry has said that the column was hurtful towards his wife Meghan Markle.

Prince Harry reacted to Clarkson’s column referring to the article as "horrific, hurtful, and cruel towards my wife. It also encourages other people around the U.K. and around the world, particularly men, to go and think that it’s acceptable to treat women that way." The Prince is currently on a tour to promote his tell-all memoir Spare.

Clarkson issued an apology some days later on Twitter. "In a column I wrote about Meghan, I made a clumsy reference to a scene in Game of Thrones and this has gone down badly with a great many people," Clarkson tweeted. "I’m horrified to have caused so much hurt and I shall be more careful in the future."

The Amazon host followed up the apology in an Instagram post. "I really am sorry," the Grand Tour host said. "All the way from the balls of my feet to the follicles on my head. This is me putting my hands up. It’s a mea culpa with bells on."

BBC did not renew Clarkson's contract after the host punched a producer of Top Gear.

Clarkson is no stranger to controversy and has encountered troubles in the past. The host’s contract with the BBC show Top Gear was not renewed after Clarkson punched one of the show’s producers. Amazon signed Clarkson as well as his fellow presenters Richard Hammond and James May to host The Grand Tour after the trio left the BBC.

The Grand Tour is currently in its final season on Amazon Prime Video.

Speaking of Amazon, the streaming giant guarantees that the upcoming God of War TV show will be a faithful adaptation of the award-winning video game franchise. Finally, fans of Invincible can look forward to getting an update about Season 2 soon.
