Usually, leakers and insiders are the sources of release dates for upcoming games before their official reveals. But, with Alan Wake 2, the game's potential release date was just confirmed by one of its voice actors.

Matthew Perreta, who is the voice actor of the titular character for Alan Wake 2, recently joined the Monsters, Madness and Magic podcast, and confirmed that Remedy Entertainment is preparing to release the game on October 2023.

@Wario64 quickly reuploaded the video on Twitter to immortalize it in case Remedy asks to have it taken down.

Perretta is the long-time voice actor of Alan Wake, having lent his talents to voice the disturbed award-winning writer in the original game, Control, the remaster, and he's also voicing Alan Wake in the sequel, as previously mentioned. 

An October release date fits the bill for what the game's director, Sam Lake, claims is the studio's first real horror title.

We were supposed to get a demo of Alan Wake 2 last summer but Remedy opted against it to focus on polishing the game instead. This is a good idea in light of all the recent releases that came out in less-than-ideal states.

As far as people in the know talking about stuff they shouldn't be, this is as legitimate as they can get.

These sorts of things have happened several times before. In gaming, Warner Bros. Discovery's CEO, David Zaslav, revealed the next Mortal Kombat game in an earlier earnings report before we got an official confirmation from NetherRealm Studios.

It's unclear if this off-hand comment is intentional or not, but for now, it's safe to assume that Alan Wake 2 will hit the Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Windows PC, and PlayStation 5, in October.

Remedy is buried in projects at the moment as the studio is working on several big titles aside from Alan Wake 2. The list of highly anticipated projects by Remedy includes a still-unnamed multiplayer Control spin-off, a sequel to Control, as well as a remake of Max Payne 1 and 2 for the PS5 and Xbox Series S/X.
