AI-generated GTA San Andreas characters go viral

If this doesn't encourage Rockstar Games to remake Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, we don't know what will.

Most GTA fans would pay good money to play a current-gen remake of GTA San Andreas.

AI-generated art is a divisive topic, but you can't deny that it has its merits. Case in point, one GTA fan used AI to generate a modernized look of everybody's favorite characters from Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, and it went viral.

u/AaronGP shared the results of the AI creations on r/StableDiffusion, from which it has since been shared all over the net.

The "creator" used ControlNet, Img2Img, and RealisticVision, to improve the original pixelated versions of GTA: San Andreas characters. The influence of iconic N.W.A rapper, Eazy-E, on Ryder is obvious from the results.

GTA: San Andreas was recently given a second life with the release of Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition. Unfortunately, the game was a bit of a disaster from the get-go and it hasn't improved much even after coming to Steam and the Epic Games Store.

But, for what it's worth, they're the best look we have for now at San Andreas, Vice City, and GTA 3. Hopefully, Rockstar can remake its other iconic titles after GTA 6.

Take-Two Interactive recently partnered with Remedy Entertainment to remaster the first two Max Payne titles. This implies that the studio's parent company is open to the idea. Don't forget, it was previously rumored that Rockstar was working on either remaster or remakes of Grand Theft Auto IV and Red Dead Redemption. Unfortunately, it had to cancel the secret projects, reportedly due to the backlash to the GTA Trilogy.

GTA 6 has got to be the most hyped video game in recent memory if not all time.

Based on the most recent reports, GTA 6 is coming out in 2026 if not later. The next GTA game is most likely not part of Take-Two's massive release pipeline through FY2025. However, one insider insists that the official GTA 6 reveal will happen later this year.
