Nintendo has often hosted the Nintendo Direct presentation in February, in order to showcase games coming out for the year. This year may be no different as new rumors suggest that the event could happen as early as next week.

Giant Bomb reporter Jeff Grubb revealed during a podcast that he has heard from sources that a Nintendo Direct is coming. According to the rumor, the event may happen on the week of February 6th.
"Everything I’m hearing—and it’s all just sort of reiterating it—it continues to be the week of February 6," Grubb said during a recent Last of the Nintendogs Podcast. "Over and over and over again, every little detail I get is, basically, a week from now we should begin hearing about all this stuff."
He adds, "I think it’s probably late in the week, so if February 6 is going to come around and we’re not going to hear about it, and people are going to freak out like there’s nothing happening, first of all, I’m not guaranteeing it for that week, I’m just saying that’s what everything is sort of pointing to right now."
Grubb explains that it is not out of the ordinary for Nintendo to host a video game showcase in the first quarter of the year. The insider is confident that "it’s going happen pretty soon." Grubb also adds that Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp will be part of the showcase event.
Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp was scheduled to release last April 8. However, the game was delayed when the war between Ukraine and Russia broke out in late February last year.
Last week, the eShop page for Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp was updated, which may be a sign Nintendo may announce a release date soon. Grubb speculates that the game will be included in the rumored Nintendo Direct.
"It got a new game ID and they’re telling retailers to take pre-orders again," Grubb said. "They’re probably going to just drop that in a Nintendo Direct real quick and push it out the door real fast, and then they’ll have a bunch of announcements about other stuff, and then we’ll get some updates on Tears of the Kingdom."
Grubb has been right about the information he shared regarding the schedule of the previous Nintendo Direct. However, he was wrong in his prediction of what games were to be featured in the event.
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, which Grubb mentioned in what he thinks will be featured in the upcoming direct, is scheduled for release in May. The highly-anticipated sequel to Breath of the Wilds will launch alongside a special edition Nintendo Switch OLED. There is speculation that Tears of the Kingdom will be one of the last big titles on the current gen Switch.
Nintendo will reportedly be increasing the production of the Nintendo Switch starting in April to meet continued demand. The handheld console is entering its seventh year and there have been rumors that the company is already developing the Nintendo Switch 2.
Nintendo will be announcing its third-quarter earnings results on February 7. It would make sense for the company to hold its next Nintendo Direct presentation in the same week.
