A user from another forum is requesting help with his issue. I have chosen to post this issue for him seeing as he can't access anything related to Xfire.
Here is the link: http://www.techsupportforum.com/gaming-forum/pc-gaming-support/216928-xfire.html And in case it is unreachable I will also post his problem here. |

Sounds like either his ISP has blocked Xfire.com, Xfire.com has been blocked on his modem or he's received an IP ban from Xfire. Have him try pinging xfire.com. If it times out, then my assumption is correct. In that case, have him check his modem to make sure that site blocking does not have Xfire.com in it. Next step would be to check with his ISP to see if Xfire.com has been blocked.

If he times out when pinging, then installing/reinstall any browser is not gonna help. He needs to get his DNS server to recognize Xfire.com before he'll be able to do anything with any browser.

We discard ping packets, so that test will always fail. Better test: - start - run - cmd - nslookup www.xfire.com (The www.xfire.com address should be 206.220.42.156.) - nslookup cs.xfire.com (The cs.xfire.com address should be 206.220.42.147.) Another test: - telnet 206.220.42.147 25999 - type in 'test' (without quotes) and the server will answer 'success' If these fail, then look at your firewall settings. _______________ -- onesoul, Xfire Admin since early 2005 |

Hey guys - sorry to bother you with my troubles and thanks for your help on this side.
I'm on another computer however, so I haven't fixed the problem but I feel that all the signs are pointing to my roomie's modem. Thanks for narrowing my search to find the problem! |
