Windows 7 Update
Hi all,
Sorry for the shortage on news. This year is a killer at school. Anyway, I have obtained a free copy of Windows 7 by registering for the party, as I'm sure some of you did. The release date is coming up soon, October 22, 2009. If you have been "sharing" all the releases, I urge you to buy a real copy. Microsoft deserves it for this operating system for sure. Now that we have the lecture out of the way, I'll just restate a few others things. If you want to contact me for anything, don't hesitate to add me, username:tykehook. Windows 7 might be almost out, but I have no intention of letting this community die. Please stay active on the forums, and I will work to keep the news feed fresh. Thank you all for you continued support and for making this the best and largest Windows 7 Community on Xfire!

Language Packs available via Windows Update
Microsoft has uploaded the Language Packs to Windows Update. Now users can install one of 34 language packs available in the optional updates section at Windows Update.
NOTE: This only works in RTM edition of Windows 7

Windows XP mode for Windows 7 is now RC
Everybody heard about Windows XP Mode, but few actually used it. Windows XP Mode is a modified Virtual PC software which seamlessly integrates Windows XP into Windows 7. Virtual PC is also in RC stage. The newer, RC features are:
● You now can attach a USB device directly from your Windows 7 taskbar.
● Windows XP mode applications are now accessible via "jump list" when you right-click on the Windows XP Mode apps from the Windows 7 taskbar.
● You can disable drive sharing between Windows XP and Windows 7, if unnecesarry.
● And it includes a new user tutorial on using Windows XP Mode.
You can try it now, but in order to even start Virtual PC RC, you need to have a CPU which supports Intel VT-x or AMD-V, which makes Windows XP to use the computers native speed.
Then you need:
● 1,25 GB memory required (2GB recommended)
● Additional 15 GB of hard disk space per virtual Windows envoirment recommended
● Windows 7 Professional or Windows 7 Ultimate (others don't work)

According to many sites regarding Windows 7 RTM's release date, it seems that it was sent to manufacturing at July 22. Those who downloaded the following build: 7600.16385.win7_rtm.090713-1255, can rest assure that it is the real RTM build of Windows 7. MSDN and TechNet subscribers however they gonna get Windows 7 RTM only on August 6. For those who can't resist, well good luck finding it

Windows 7 Gaming IRC
For those of you looking to have a good chat with the rest of the group, head on over to our new IRC Channel.
It's on the server irc.gamesurge.net

For those of you who don't know what IRC is, it stands for Internet Relay Chat.
A very simple IRC client called XChat 2 can be found at http://www.silverex.org/download/xchat-2.8.6-2.exe
1. Once installed, run the program, and it will popup with a Server List.
2. Look through the list for Gamesurge. If it's there, skip to step 5.
3. If it's not there, click new, it will let you type in a name. Type in Gamesurge, and click Edit.
4. Under Servers for Gamesurge it will already show newserver/6667, click edit, and replace that with "irc.gamesurge.net" (without the quotation marks of course) and click close.
5. Select Gamesurge from the list of servers, and click connect.
6. In the little texbox at the bottom, type "/nick nickname" Without the quotation marks, and replacing the word nickname...
