Sh** just got real, Game Boy real
TAG has now officially expanded to the Game Boy, which is the only platform legit enough for the most extreme of extreme gamers. This quick decision came immediately after the discovery that the Republic Commando community on Game Boy is hugely active, way beyond PC and Xbox even in their peak years!

Site Back Online
Our site has been back up for a couple hours now and is currently stable.
The backup we recovered from was taken Sun, 11 Dec 2011 06:02:39 UTC. Which means anything you submitted on the website between then up until a couple hours ago was lost.
The restore point rolled back at least 424 posts, 6 membership applications, and 8 user registrations. (Apparently the nightly backups must have been lost - or *gasp* not actually taken? - so I guess we got stuck with an almost week-old weekly one.)

Webhost Hacked
The company that hosts our site got hacked. Apparently the attacker was able to compromise at least several of their servers, and consequently our website is offline.
Please be aware that it is highly likely some data will be lost. We don't yet know if local backups were lost. We at least have an offsite backup from the beginning of the month.
You should also be aware of how this affects your privacy:
Note that TAG was not the target of the attack, so it's unlikely that the hacker would spend the time going through every database from every site hosted by this company to scavenge information. However, if the attacker wanted to, we have no reason to doubt that he/she had an opportunity to access our files and database.
E-mail addresses are stored unencrypted in plain text, so they would be fairly straight forward to retrieve should the attacker go looking for them.
We never store your password in the clear. The only copy is a 160-bit cryptographic digest hashed with a random salt....
