Pi

Pi is used to calculate the properties of any circular based shape. It is one of the most important mathematical constants and is also both an irrational and transcendental number - meaning that it can not be expressed exactly as either an integer or a fraction, and no finite sequence of algebraic operations on integers will ever produce pi.
Throughout history there has been an effort to determine pi more accurately, even though a value rounded to 11 decimal places is accurate enough to calculate the circumference of the Earth to within a millimeter, and a value rounded to 38 decimal places is accurate enough to calculate the circumference of any object within the observable universe to a precision comparable to the radius of a hydrogen atom.
