Third Engineer Item Surfaces Plus New Sentry!
The third engineer unlockable was revealed today as promised after the last golden wrench was awarded. The Gunslinger allows the engineer to deploy a new sentry called the combat mini-sentry. I have included the full item/sentry details below. Valve also announced the maps Thunder Mountain and ColdFront. This brings the total number of new maps included in the update up to 4. The Engineer patch is live right now, have fun!

The Gunslinger (replaces the wrench)

• +25 max health on wearer
  
• Combo attack: the third punch in a series of hits on an enemy always crits
  
• Lets the Engineer drop mini-sentries (see below) instead of normal sentries
  

Combat Mini-Sentry (placed by Engineers using the Gunslinger)

• Only costs 100 metal to place
  
• Builds 4x faster than a normal sentry
  
• Deploys with full health
  
• But cannot be repaired or upgraded and deals half the normal sentry’s damage

Second Engineer Item Revealed
With the 50th golden wrench awarded comes a new engineer item. This one replaces the engineer’s pistol and allows the Engineer to directly control a sentry.

The Wrangler (replaces the pistol)

• Engineers can use the Wrangler to take control and aim their sentry gun but an Engineer-controlled sentry won’t select targets by itself
  
• The Wrangler creates a shield that absorbs 66% of all incoming damage
  
• Gives a doubled firing rate. Also increases missile launch rate at level 3
  
• But the sentry is defenseless (inactive) for three seconds after the Engineer switches away from the Wrangler
  

*Update 7/7: Today's update revealed a new map called Hightower and a community created wrench. Which is most likely the wrench pictured on this hidden page.

Valve formally announces the Engineer Update
Valve has finally announced that the engineer update is arriving this Thursday. Sadly there is no word of some kind of event this week. But they did explain the purpose of the golden wrench found in the patch last week. They randomly awarded 25 golden wrenches to people who crafted over the weekend. They also announced that 75 more golden wrenches will be given to people who craft all through this week.

In addition, one of the engineer’s new items was also revealed:

Frontier Justice (replaces the shotgun)

• 50% smaller magazine than the standard shotgun
  
• Doesn’t get random crits. Instead, get “revenge crits”:
  
• Engineers get two crits for every kill their sentries racked up before destruction, and one crit for every assist
  
• When engineer’s sentry is destroyed (either through enemy action or self-destruct), the Engineer receives bonus crits with the Frontier Justice
