TEK9 Live Chat - Transcript Part 3
ReDeYe: [20:30] Heroes aerox (therealbeeman): To ReDeYe (i love you really :D): In response to your answer, are you thinking of lobbying at your local MP for Government support of eSports?
I have had some brief talks with people who are close to ELSPA and they like the ideas. I hope I can follow up on that and interact with a couple of other senior government people who are pro gaming like the MP Ed Vaizey
dfb: [20:32] Heroes aerox (therealbeeman): To Wizinium and DFB: What are your views on the current Invite/preinvite system, and who would you consider the monumental faces in the Call of Duty scene, as of writing.
I think a lot of the known faces from the past aren't really playing actively anymore and perhaps the current invite/preinvite system isn't perfect but nothing really is. I think the people running it do a good job and attempt every day to further help the community which can only be a good thing.
wizinium: 20:32] Heroes aerox (therealbeeman): To Wizinium and DFB: What are your views on the current Invite/preinvite system, and who would you consider the monumental faces in the Call of Duty scene, as of writing.
Hmmm tough question as I dont want to tread on too many toes. I think the invite/preinvite system isnt run to badly but some admins should maybe be removed due to inactivity on IRC. Sui did a good job in the channel but as it is a professional channel some things need to be changed from the admin side of things/ With Vita-Nova the channel should be helped and cleared out if needed. Imo at the current state deffo vanner , gizzor and froster with Vita-Nova ;) But JETSET is so underrated and done so much for the scene along with Steven and z1no securing lans for the cod4 community :)
ReDeYe: [20:34] Paki (chrisnatlenko): I wish i could meet one of you guys in person Is there a upcoming lan?
We will have several of the team at both CIC7 in Enschede Holland and at the next i-series,, feel free to come and say hi :)
dfb: [20:34] Paki (chrisnatlenko): I wish i could meet one of you guys in person Is there a upcoming lan?
The next event we will attend is the Crossfire Intel Challenge in Enschede from the 5th to the 7th of March.
wizinium: [20:34] Paki (chrisnatlenko): I wish i could meet one of you guys in person Is there a upcoming lan?
Yup hopefully iseries and cc7, watch out for steven btw!
Jetset: Paki (chrisnatlenko): do you think cod4/cod2 would be no where without the howle tek9 franchise idea's etc etc,
I think its a combination of things: the efforts of the community members, the tournament organisers, the different websites that cover the game, the organisations that support teams, the organisations providing streamed footage (like Quadv) that help determine the success. The size and activity of the scene is key as well.
crow: [20:32] Luke (forza67): What are the chances of up coming quakelive cups from tek9?
QuakeLive cups for the TEK9 community are definitely something that's being looked at by myself and Steven. A lot of people are having fun trying out Quake and we'll be looking to cater for them as well as maybe running some more serious cups.
dfb: 20:37] HωA | DяєDD (esdredd): @dfb : will u force the vanner to get off his xxx avatar =))) ?
I'll have a word with him about this, yes :)
dfb: [20:37] Criise - Team me (wouterke222): When can we go bbq by DFB? now he gots his new blackberry and a new volvo c70 !
It's actually a nice v50! Anyway might do a BBQ in the summer with some staff members and people I know or one for OOF!
wizinium: [20:38] Heroes aerox (therealbeeman): To everyone: Vita-Nova has explicitly asked for no banter during games, to increase the professionality of the game, due to the main scene being unable to not banter (and flame) during games. What are your views on this subject?
its good there is no flame. We need to be more professional so it shines down on teams on a lower level. This is half the battle which can bee seen on the forums. Who could take us seriously as a community, if we kept it up like we do on the tek9 forums.
Jetset: [20:38] Paki (chrisnatlenko): tek9 has fragmovies allot of them Do you think you should release a new one? you know?
Well we do not only publish the movies made by the crew members of tek9 cinema but also from a variety of community members (so its not only our movies, we just provide a database). However, you can expect some new tek9 cinema movies in the future, they will continue to work on them =)
wizinium: [20:39] eclipzxz =] (headshot128): @wizinium Which is your favourite fragmovie from tek9 cinema?
GRUPPEN - that CSS movie is UNREAL!
dfb: 20:38] Heroes pazazu (laterzzz): Will the forum reply system stay the same as it is now ?
Right now it will stay like this but we are looking into possibly changing it, among other things. Nothing definitive yet though.
crow[b]: [20:34] Paki (chrisnatlenko): I wish i could meet one of you guys in person Is there a upcoming lan?
Hopefully I'll make it over to some of the upcoming QuakeLive tournaments - maybe the IEM finals or the next Quakecon. I do miss the fun times at the Call of Duty events like Crossfire or the EuroCup LAN's.
[b]dfb: [20:38] Criise - Team me (wouterke222): Does tek9 site need a hardware topic ? cause i got sick of people who are asking for good computers in the cod4 thingies
I think the hardware forum serves its purpose. There are a lot of people in need of some help and they can find it here. If you don't like posts about this, you could simply chose to ignore them instead of commenting on them why you don't like them :) That said, we might install some sort of filter where you get to pick what you see and what you don't see on the forums but that's just a future idea I've personally had and nothing that has been planned yet.
wizinium: [20:41] Heroes aerox (therealbeeman): Wizinium: are you thinking of applying a penalty/concequences if the rules of the flaming are trespassed?
Yes, I actually forgot about that in my reply. I will speak with the other admins and hopefully something can be arranged. I would like to see a plently issued if the rules have been broken. But it is preinvite and invite so we expect a bit more maturity
Jetset: [20:38] Criise - Team me (wouterke222): Does tek9 site need a hardware topic ? cause i got sick of people who are asking for good computers in the cod4 thingies
We'll not everyone is knowledgeable about computers and its only a good thing that they find a solution to their problem. It will continue to be a part of the site, but we might add filters for the various subforums (like we did with the recruitment section).
dfb: [20:46] Heroes aerox (therealbeeman): And now for the derp question of the day: To everyone: Wouldn't u say that Robby Kraai (Robby Crow) is about the coolest name in the world?
I think Liam Crow is about the coolest name in the world
ReDeYe: [20:46] Heroes aerox (therealbeeman): And now for the derp question of the day: To everyone: Wouldn't u say that Robby Kraai (Robby Crow) is about the coolest name in the world?
In eSports, it has to be Max Silver, it sounds like a Private Investigator complete with a beige mac and a smoke in his mouth
Jetset: [20:42] idefixion (snickernicky): Jetset: If you had to change your job for a while which you are doing for tek9 now, what would you like to do?
Good question. I am currently still a student but if i could choose (right now), I would probably consider a job in marketing or consumer behavior, I enjoy being creative. I've considered development aid but still haven't made up my mind, since its not something to be taken lightly.
wizinium: [20:51] Luke (forza67): @everyone out of all the places you've been because of esports, where is the best place you've been and why
Deffo OOF. I had an IMMENSE time meeting everyone again. going partying with Steven and gamevibes crew aswell as meeting my hero JETSET and Duck and other Heaven Media crew! Big thanks to Steven's Mum and Dad for looking after me!
wizinium: [20:52] Heroes pazazu (laterzzz): @wiz, will aerox stop being your fanboy one day?
Hahahahahahhahahaha, maybe someday! :D
crow: [20:45] Heroes aerox (therealbeeman): to Crow: Obviously, as one of the star players of Check-Six (some argue) you were a recognized face in the Call of Duty scene. Why did you fade away from the scene, only to return now as a quake live journalist?
Good question :P The obvious answer would be that I "faded" away from gaming by choice while I completed my studies at uni. I had some great times playing but for a long time now I have preferred writing as opposed to playing as the time commitments are totally different. When I graduated last summer I spoke with Steven about doing some wor
dfb: [20:51] Luke (forza67): @everyone out of all the places you've been because of esports, where is the best place you've been and why
It's hard to pick a favorite when you've been to so many events throughout the world. For me personally it might be the trip we took with the old TEK9 team (back when it was a team) to the WSVG in Dallas. We simply had so much fun there and enjoyed every minute. My latest trip to Korea was also pretty amazing but again, it's hard to pick a favorite as there are dozens more to pick from where I have great memories
ReDeYe: [20:51] Luke (forza67): @everyone out of all the places you've been because of esports, where is the best place you've been and why
I have been lucky enough to go all over the place due to esport, I enjoyed China (twice), Australia, New York and Los Angeles a ton of times, but Singapore truly was amazing, I loved the place and hope to go back again soon. It made it even more special because the WCG Finals that year were just about as good as it gets for me in gaming terms
crow: [20:46] Heroes aerox (therealbeeman): And now for the derp question of the day: To everyone: Wouldn't u say that Robby Kraai (Robby Crow) is about the coolest name in the world?
agreed :P
