Welcome to the live chat with the writers and content directors of TEK9. We're very happy to have them! They'll start taking your questions now.
Please ask your questions in the question room. TEK9 will answer the selected questions in this room, central command.
At the end of the chat we will awarding a couple of prizes for the best questions. Enjoy!
ReDeYe: TEK9 wont be running any teams, it is a community site fully and as it is owned by Heaven Media, it will not be going in to running teams.
wizinium: [20:01] #Validus`NickUK`Paid-I39 (k800darker): Tek-9 - Do you think Modern Warfare 2 is going to go far on the competitive side?
Personally , its won't. We have seen at i38 it cannot be played competitivly and there was a backlash by the community. MW2 is dead on PC as far as the community is concerned
Jetset: unPro Rebelsy (rebelsy): tek9 will come to lan in croatia ?
We will definately always consider covering LAN events and make a decision depending on the attractiveness, attending teams and size.
dfb: [20:02] Criise - Team me (wouterke222): Does tek9 have a big organisation plan for 2010.. or something with cod4 .. or other games?
TEK9 has some big plans coming up for everyone and it will definately involve Call of Duty 4. We will also support other game and you will see we are already fully supporting Quake Live. I cannot give too much details yet but expect some big things from us in 2010 !
wizinium: [20:04] Jonesy (mercsjonsey): What is the plans for fun cups and drafts they seems to have fizzled out will tek-9 be running these now or is it all going to be through esports heaven now?
The fun cups were awesome but the cup side of tek9 will have moved to Esports Heaven. We may make more fun cups in the future and drafts I will deffo want to bring back. The drafts ran dry because I had no one to sponsor them after YCN and B4Y, I will look more into it as I really enjoyed doing them
Jetset: [20:06] Lukas (lukas8015): Within your team do you share the tasks? Plays a sniper e.g tanks and others?
We'll we are not an actual gaming team but a community website. We do of course share the content related tasks.
dfb: [20:05] Criise - Team me (wouterke222): Does tek9 believe in a reborn of old players? I mean the old cod2 players who are comming back and make a new pownage here?
And how about the amount of teams who are request sponsors,.. do you think there is a good option for them to make it?
First of all I think that once you've acquired a certain skill it isn't hard to come back into the game and get back to the same level. That being said there will be new tricks possible and you'll have to adapt if you want to become good again.
On the sponsors issue a lot of that comes down to two things. On the one hand you need a product which can demonstrate REAL value for the sponsor and the second thing is you need enough dedication to keep working. You'll get 99 NO's and just one YES and that can be very stressful.
wizinium: [20:07] Heroes pazazu (laterzzz): @wiz will you ever be good at hon?
Yes mate! Im getting there and im learning more than one hero, you will see me go hardcore HoN after my exams!
ReDeYe: [20:07] Jonesy (mercsjonsey): Will tek-9 be venturing into covering games like HON which wiz is an absolute pro at hahaha naught! :D
Steven and I will be talking about the games we cover throughout 2010 and we always like to add new games, but only once we have the right staff to do so and the site is capable of supporting it without impacting on the other games we cover
wizinium: [20:08] Paki (chrisnatlenko): Will tek9 continue to be the best gaming comm in the world since it has been and do you guys still achieve allot ?
There are alot of communities in the world so I'm not sure if we are the best. It is something to work towards and we have come along way. We will keep striving to be the best but we will keep expanding :)
wizinium: [20:10] Ralph / Private04 (private04): Wiz, how many hours a day do you spend on the TEK9 website & forum?
wizinium: ops
dfb: [20:06] #Validus`NickUK`Paid-I39 (k800darker): Tek-9 - Do you think Call Of Duty 4 will be at some of the future I-Series Events along side with money prizes such as Sponsors supporting the game?
I think Call of Duty will be picked up at a lot of events this year and I already know of some good events picking up COD4 as their competitive game. About Iseries I truly hope they learned from the past and go with COD4 instead of MW2 but there might be other motives in following that path that many people don't see immediately which makes it hard for them to follow the obvious path. Iseries truly is a great event for the UK and you'll see us present at the next one for sure, regardless of what game they will do!
Jetset: Do you think cod4 will still be played if Call of duty will expand Since its big for esports-lan events thanks,
Definately, currently things are looked good with 17 teams already signed up for the crossfire challenge and the general consensus that cod5 will not work for competitive. Most of the events are organised by the community and if the community decides to stay with CoD4 and remains active, the future does look bright.

wizinium: [20:10] Ralph / Private04 (private04): Wiz, how many hours a day do you spend on the TEK9 website & forum?
I do spend a good bit of time on the forums and the website. I have a few roles in the community which take up sometime. The forums I like to browse and will remove posts if needed and if a post needs to be done on the website ill try my best to fit it in.
dfb: 20:11] AFD.Lic|
wizinium: #Validus`NickUK`Paid-I39 (k800darker): As some admins of #MPUKCOD4.Pickup are from Tek-9 is there any news on the Pickups coming back online again after long downtime ?
I am the head admin of the pickups and at the minute the bot has been down foir quite a while. The bot coder left Multiplay and so Breath has had to learn the bot coding. I will hassle him soon and hopefully it will be up asap
dfb: 20:11] Heroes pazazu (laterzzz): @dfb will there be an oof4/aef?
Yes! I am already planning the next event but we are still looking at what type of event we'll put down. An AEF event is a lot harder to do and an OOF is a safer option. But regardless you will see another LAN event featuring Call of Duty 4 (and CSS) in Antwerp this summer with good cash prizes and international teams attending!
ReDeYe: To ReDeYe: The Call of Duty 4 scene has been through highs and lows, but is currently rising again. What are your views on the scene, and how does it compare to the Counter-Strike Source scene?
I love the COD scene, but like many other scenes, inlcuding Counter Strike Source, it does tend to self implode sometimes. What it really needs is for more people to step up to write news, cover games, arrange and admin leagues as well as all of the top players to continue to support it. Personally, I think if the scene sticks together and supports whatever game it decides to play (probably COD4) then it can be very good indeed. It had almost as many tournaments as CSS last year and if it can continue that in 2010, then it will be very healthy indeed.
ReDeYe: [20:14] #Validus`NickUK`Paid-I39 (k800darker): Will Tek-9 take up Live Streaming (Video/Audio) for Lan Events/High Profile Matches etc?
No :)
Jetset: [20:12] UKDS.SKIPPER (kb43): : Will tek-9 take a team? or tek9 loves the portal thing and goes with it?
TEK9 is a part of the Heaven Media group and is currently solely a website. There are no plans to change this right now, but you can find some of our former teams / players at Antwerp Aces.
dfb: Qwixxx (muchacho20): @dfb: Is there any way there would be another OOF4 cod2 lan this tourney? Even though not many teams showed up, it was still a very fun thing to do and we would love to do it again
I know it was a very fun event but to tell you the truth I was a little disappointed about the community attendence. It hurt us a bit (financially) and although we love to support the community we cannot always do it like that. This time we are gunning for COD4 and CSS to start off with, we'll see what else we could add.
ReDeYe: [20:15] idefixion (snickernicky): to redeye: Are you also in for being a manager of a team? Or will you stay with the things you are doing now?
I would never say never to being a team manager again, but its not something I am looking at right now, unless a ridiculously good offer came along and then of course I would consider it, but there is plenty for me to do at Heaven Media with 9 sites to look after now and the work I do for TV and QuadV, I think I have enough at the moment :)
wizinium: [20:16] Qwixxx (muchacho20): Will tek9 still do something for the COD2 community?
No, after the cup I hosted last time it was a complete disaster! We may post news about upcoming events and the you do have your own forum we dont want to go any further than that
ReDeYe: [20:15] Ralph / Private04 (private04): ReDeYe - the book you wrote about shoutcasting.. did you get alot of good reactions on it? also, will you attend CIC7 to shoutcast?
I had a huge and positive response to the book I wrote and I was happy it reached a lot of people, but I will be even happier if it helps people take up shoutcasting, because god knows, we need more quality now more than ever before. As for CIC7, the current plan is that I will not be attending, but that could change closer to the time, we'll see.
