COD Modern Warfare 2 - 1st Impressions
As a self admitted Call of Duty junkie – I'm going to classes, and I'm using the steps – I was eager to jump in and give the new multiplayer in Modern Warfare 2 a serious run through the paces. Not a hands-on "dabble" with the game; a real runthrough. Thus far I've had a chance to play three matches, each of which were different, and experimented with three different class sets. The beta we're currently on is totally locked out at the beginning, starting with each player at level one, and resetting every time a 20 minute interval is up. Needless to say, that limits the amount of guns I've had a chance to use, but it also keeps the playing field even.
The first major note I can make on the game is that, as expected, it's pretty unchanged in the gameplay department from the previous Modern Warfare. IW knew it had a hit on its hands in the first game, and as such Modern Warfare 2 feels like a true Modern Warfare experience. The team sizes are set at nine on nine, the levels are a mix of...

Aspyr Media, Inc. on Tuesday announced that it will publish Call of Duty® 4: Modern Warfare™ for the Macintosh.
"Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare delivers unprecedented high-definition graphics, piercing 5.1 surround sound and a dynamic community-oriented multiplayer experience. Developed by Infinity Ward and licensed by Activision, the game is expected to be available for Mac in May 2008."
Aspyr Media has been porting Windows games to the Mac OS platform since 1996.

Call of Duty 4: has surpassed Halo 3
PlanetCoD is reporting that Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare has surpassed Halo 3 as the top-played Xbox Live game for the Xbox 360.
This shouldn't come as a terribly big surprise. When you think about it, CoD4's matchmaking is much simpler than Halo 3. Yes, Halo 3's matchmaking has more depth and greater control, but that really is only appealing to the die-hard Halo fans who know what all the gametypes, words, and settings mean. For your average-Joe (like me) who hasn't been playing Halo on Live since its inception just wants to be able to hop-in and play with others without advanced filter configuration.
CoD4 offers that simple instant gratification factor. Moreover, that simple nature also appeals to the die-hard CoD fans as well. Who doesn't want it to be easy? By having those sets of predefined and highly-toned game settings, Infinity Ward has effectively captured the majority of the most popular games in Multiplayer in a simple selection list.

New Call of Duty 4 Additions
It seems that more spots on our Friends list are devoted to people playing Call of Duty 4 than anything else, lately. Despite the e-success, the team at Infinity Ward is still tweaking the experience, evidenced by a bevy of changes that will be coming to the online portion of the game sometime this month.
The changes are split between two groups: playlist and patch changes. The playlist changes are numerous, and really help to balance and perfect the online experience. Maps are being added to rotations, new playlist variations are being introduced, and some rules are being changed. As for the patch, there's an awful lot of network optimization, the addition of host migration (your party doesn't get booted if the host takes off) and, perhaps most importantly of all, Kill Cam view has been added to everything: claymores, RPGs, grenades, even fracking Air Strike Bombs ("follows bomb from plane to target" ... oh yes).
The only thing we don't like about this updates? There's no ETA outside of the...
