The race is over and Edjy came out first! Congrats to him and to all racers. This was an epic event: 48 hours racing, lots of prep work, lots of coverage (check the blog out at xfire.com/blog/theblog).

The list of 25 is set
Thanks to everyone who took part in the testing, especially those who didn't make it through.
So it got finalized a couple hours ago, the final list of 25 racers is now set. Which can mean only one thing: the race will start really soon. It's only a matter of hours before it goes live!

Waiting list activated
Registrants from the waiting list, now is your time! We have 4 spots in the race up for grabs.
To get one of these, post a comment to this news entry and let us know what the url to your registration thread in the forums is and what time you can run the test. The earlier, the better as we will confirm your application once we have cleared the test with you.

Initial list of 25 racers is up
The race is closing in and today we're coming one more step further in our process: the initial list of 25 racers is up in the league forums. You can check it out here.
Thanks to all who took the time to register! If you're part of the 25, head to the racers forum now and read the instructions there: we need to go through some testing with you guys!
All other applicants should stay tuned: if tests fail for some guys on the current list of 25, we'll pick replacements amongst you.

The registration for Race to 80 event is now closed. We got a nice number of people who registered for the race and we will be reviewing the registrations now.

Cleaning time
We're closing in to the 300 members cap to the league. This means we're going to have to throw people out of it as soon as tonight. We'll start with those who entered before November 2nd and haven't applied to become a racer yet. If you get kicked out but decide you want to apply after all, you can still come back into the league and do it. We're just doing some necessary cleaning here so please don't get mad if you get caught in the sweep. Nothing personal!

Thanks to everyone who joined the league (we now add up to ~23o ooo hours of WoW gameplay - that is truel33t) and registered for the race already! This is all pretty exciting to us.
For those who haven't done it yet but want to, do it quick as the registration desk will shut tomorrow evening (Tuesday Nov 4th at 11:59pm GMT).
And on a totally unrelated note: American people, go vote!
PS: Yes, there's a bug with the bbcode display on Xfire groups (clans/guilds/leagues) homepages but it will get fixed very soon.

This page is the hub for contestants in the "Race to level 80" on Xfire.
The principle is simple: upon release of Wrath of the Lich King, racers will try and reach level 80 in World of Warcraft as fast as they can while their effort is watched by the community through the Xfire video broadcast system.
Join the league and head on to the forum section to register for the race.
The dedicated "Race to 80" page and the Xfire blog will have race coverage with URL's to the best video streams and insight on what's going on.
