Frag Dominant, LLC. Proudly Announces Partnership With AMD

Frag Dominant, founded in 2006 by Orlando “Hanzo” Garcia, exploded onto the eSports scene in late 2006 and has finally joined forces with long time supporter AMD.

March 9th, 2008 – Frag Dominant, LLC and Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (NYSE: AMD), have finally joined forces to take the world of eSports by storm. AMD, which in late 2006 took the reigns of leading graphics chipset manufacturer ATI, has years of experience providing the best gaming hardware to the enthusiast arena and surely needs no introductions.

Frag Dominant however, a relatively young organization, may not already be on the tip of everyones tongue. In the summer of 2007 they jumped on the scene seemingly from nowhere, claiming a North American CPL title and $40,000 away from the dominant European force Team Dignitas. They later went on to repeat this success, winning the World in Conflict premier event at Quakecon 2007, defeating the notable team 20ID. These were only the tip of the iceberg, and were echoed in several other games at several other events for Day of Defeat: Source, Warcraft 3: Defense of the Ancients and Unreal Tournament 2004.

There has been little time for pause since, and with the addition of several key staff Frag Dominant has successfully expanded to compete in 6 different highly competitive titles for PC, and 3 for console. Things have particularly become more exciting over the last few months with the announcement that the MLG, an increasingly popular eSports circuit for console gamers, has partnered with ESPN to bring eSports to audiences all over America. Frag Dominant will have a front row seat, with teams that have already taken 1st place finishes at countless MLG stops for Rainbow 6: Vegas and Gears of War on the 2007 circuit. Added together, FD.RB6 and FD.GoW have earned a total of $30,000 competing in the year 2007 alone.

2008 Finally Upon Us, Enter AMD

I got a chance to sit down and speak to Orlando “Hanzo” Garcia regarding the freshly minted sponsorship. Below is what he had to say about the history of the organization and its plans for the future.

Q: When you founded Frag Dominant in 2006, what were your intentions? Did you have any influences?

A: My intentions were plain and simple: to be one of the best organizations in North America. I think we've lost our way over here and I want to bring back gaming the way it’s supposed to be. Europe has the lions share of the global scene by far, I want to see America once again represented internationally. One of my biggest influences was Jason Lake, I always admired his fire and passion for gaming.

Q: Did you ever expect Frag Dominant to grow so quickly?

A: I can humbly say yes, I always knew that if I put enough time into Frag Dominant it would grow beyond my wildest expectations. I want to also thank my staff for their courage and faith in me, for believing in me when nobody else cared.

Q: Frag Dominant already has quite an impressive array of sponsors and supporters, how will the addition of AMD affect your previous partnerships?

A: AMD and I are more than partners, we have a strong and solid friendship. There are no conflicts with our current partners, in fact they have done nothing but applaud me on my success with AMD.

Q: Now that Frag Dominant has a head sponsor, where do you plan to take the organization in the coming months?

A: The sky isn’t the limit when it comes to Frag Dominant. We have so many ideas and we will do what it takes to bring our visions to life. I do want to say this, though: FD, although young, is very strong and doesn't sleep. I think this is the beginning of the beast from the east being released. With AMD powering our teams and the biggest LAN's, circuits and leagues right around the corner, things can only go up from here. We've finally arrived.

Q: Will you be teaming up with AMD to run events, possibly tournaments in the future?

A: Yes absolutely, I think this is going to be an exciting year in eSports for everyone, not just Frag Dominant and its supporters.

Q: What can the general gaming community expect to gain from this partnership?

A: Our goal is to bring back gaming to North America the way it’s supposed to be, as I said before. I think that events such as giveaways, promotions, tournaments and community interaction are very important things to further this. I think this is what the general gaming community needs, and lets remember not everyone is a pro gamer. The general community has a lot of questions and looks up to the top tiers to answer them. We want to do our best to keep those questions answered, because aspiring teams and players are the fuel of the competitive community.

Q: Any closing statements?

A: Thank you to everyone that has supported us, as well as everyone who hasn't. Because of both, we keep working hard every day to restore pride to North American competition.
