wolfteamleader: Hi everyone, welcome to the Wolf Team Live Chat! We’re here with the team behind Aeria Games excited to answer any questions you might have about Wolf Team!
gmvalkyrie: Hi Everyone. Good to see you all
andosky: Hi everyone, I'm AndoSky :P
tsngreen: Hello Everyone!
gmdropkick: hello
gmchipmunk: Hello everyone! :D
andosky: Trevor (elmstfreddie): How much control over the development of the game do you guys have, or is it all Softnyx?
Aeria has a very close relationship with Softnyx. We are constantly in communication with them every day. When we have an idea or an issue to bring up, we speak with them directly. While they are the developer and have the final say on the design and direction of the game, they value our input and have been good at listening to us :)
gmvalkyrie: fangorn284: Who is the head of animation for wolf team?
All character animation, development, and models are done through the developement team at Softnyx.
tsngreen: Harkonis (harkonis): When will there be incentive for people not in Pacific Time Zone to play in their own channels? I'm in EST but there is never anyone
We plan to do events earlier in the day to accomodate EST players. Currently most of our events focus on PST
gmchipmunk: What is the motivation behind a FREE multiplayer Online game?
Why its free to play for one which is pretty unique in the world of FPS games. We also Have a community that adds a completely new gaming experience in the world of PC gaming. = D
gmvalkyrie: (harkonis): When can we expect some new maps and/or game modes?
There is currently a mode under development that we expect to see soon. More details will come once we are able to fully disclose the information surrounding a human vs human mode. ^_^ Remember that all new content comes from the developers, and while we have a very good working relationship with them, they still surprise us once in a while. :D
tsngreen: [JAZZ]Cerebrus (headshotenterprise): Oh here's also a good one, why is the recoil so soft in Wolfteam compared to all the other games?
Recoil is only soft for certain weapons. I would say that many weapons are similar to other games, however you have the option to upgrade your guns to reduce recoil and add stopping power. In this sense, I would say Wolf Team is moving forward from old style recoil design.
andosky: Nairoz (nairoz): Are you looking at adding microtransactions at a later date, or completely free?
Surprise, we have actually already added this! You can find several items in-game that you can purchase with Aeria Points (AP). These range from tattoos to backpacks to other goodies :)
andosky: [GS]Mark (marksteele6): does cash weapons and other cash items give any sigificant advantage over
other players? Does it make the game unbalanced?
I would say no to this, and we will try to keep it this way. Some items may give players a slight advantage, but really the most important items in the game can be purchased with gold.
gmvalkyrie: Harkonis (harkonis): Will we be getting new human models to choose from or possibly multiple alternate styles for the wolf transformation beyond tattoos?
At the moment, we are unaware of any further character customization plans by the developers. While we have a large interest in this, as it's always a pleasure to be set apart from the pack, such customization takes a lot of development effort both to create and implement it into the game.
gmchipmunk: Gin Blossoms ftw XD (skywalkerr2008): how do i become a gm for wolfteam?
nice name by the way! And GM's for any of the games featured at Aeria work directly for Aeria Games & Entertainment. So if you think you may have what it takes you may want to possibly apply for a possition ; D
andosky: -stalker- (annoyingplayer): how big do you hope wolfteam will grow, how many players? what was your idea from the start?
Wolf Team is Aeria's biggest FPS game! (ok, so maybe it's Aeria's ONLY FPS, but that's besides the point!) We are happy with the current results of the game and we hope to see it continue to grow more in the future :)
gmvalkyrie: ?UI©Ks?o? (gohkeyes): I can barely run halo 1 on my pc, will i be able to run wolf team?
So long as your system meets the minimum system requirements, you should be able to run Wolf Team just fine. You can find the sysreqs on the wolfteam website, under the "overview" tab.
tsngreen: [GS]Mark (marksteele6): what kind of issues does a Game Master for wolfteam deal with on a day to day basis?
We update on the current status of the game, whether that be an outbreak of exploits, hacks or rude behavior. We also act as ambasadors to Aeria Games through the Wolf Team forums. We also stay in touch with the community, and of course our Game Sages. The Sages are valued and trusted community members. We also do account banning, and other related duties. We compile lists of bugs, exploits and hacks and report them to the devs.
gmdropkick: [Xf Helper] Jubjub (breadie): ?UI©Ks?o? (gohkeyes): Is there a back story to the game?
Through genetic mutations, some human beings slowly began to transform into wolves. At first, the sightings were rare, but eventually the mutations spread and packs of mutated humans began to overrun towns and cause destruction. Eventually the goverment stepped in and began capturing these mutated beings. After initial testing, some of the muted beings were found to be able to switch back and forth from their mutated form to their regular human form. This ability was documented and eventually introduced into test experiments for elite military groups.
andosky: Harkonis (harkonis): When will features such as Power User and custom clan badges as well as additional stats and possibly web-viewable stats be in?
We are currently evaluating which other iteams we want to add next into the shop. There are some that we are planning to introduce a little later, we just need more time to discuss them first. Regarding website stat tracking, this is something we hope to introduce in the near future, but no timeline on this just yet
gmchipmunk: [
We are always looking into new games in many different genre's. It is very possible that we could aquire another FPS style game in the future.
gmdropkick: [Xf Helper] Jubjub (breadie): mantie233[§.o.Ð] (mantie233): what are youre current idea that you want to put into the game?
gmdropkick: new game modes
gmdropkick: new maps
gmdropkick: new guns
gmchipmunk: and and man eating horses!! That throw lettuce at you when you die! :D
andosky: Zezi (minorutono): Are you ever going to acquire the full rights to Wolfteam? Or do you plan on simply having to go talk to Softnyx every time you encounter a problem?
Like most other games at Aeria, we are the publisher of the game, not the developer. Softnyx owns the IP for Wolf Team, while Aeria has licensed it for NA/EU. This will probably not change in the future, however we may look at licensing the game in other languages later.
tsngreen: mantie233[§.o.Ð] (mantie233): what are youre current idea that you want to put into the game?
I would like a few things (personally). I think vertical climbing could make wolves more mobile and would love to see that added. Maybe even holding position on wall for limited durations.
gmvalkyrie: mantie233[§.o.Ð] (mantie233): what are youre current idea that you want to put into the game?
We all have our own ideas of what would make the game great. As the game continues to grow, the development of the game will grow as well. In past experience, this is usually a cooperative effort between the development team and Aeria, with many ideas traded back and forth. My own personal choice would be more melee weapons for humans in modes where they have aknife.
gmvalkyrie: GS]Mark (marksteele6): what can I do to help out with wolfteam? Are regular players able to do things like host events?
There is a huge number of ways that normal players can help. Reporting bad behavior, helping keep Wolf Team a clean place, suggesting new ideas and events, and best of all: leading by example. Players are more than welcome to host their own events, and if they post in the forums, moderators usually "sticky" player event posts. So far we've had several people host their own events, from birthday bashes to classic tournaments!
gmdropkick: Xf Helper] Jubjub (breadie): Kobaj (kobaj): for an asspiring developer, what schooling and education advancments would you recomend?
Find a passion for what you like to create. Stick with that passion and keep building on it. Many universities now offer video game creation classes which help introduce you to the day to day task that developers undergo. From my experience, developers are masters at computer language. Try and learn as much as possible and remember to stick with it.
tsngreen: =ST=Superjudge (superjudge): Are there any plans to develop some sort of persistant conflict for the game? One where clans are able to take territory and such in order to further the MMO aspect of the game?
That's difficult to say. The one aspect I think we would like to see first would be a clan ranking system. A way to recognize the accomplisments of groups of players much like Guilds in other MMO's. From there we may branch off, but as First Person Shooters go, the only thing any teams usually hold are their weapons. =P
gmchipmunk: JAR-Sator(Artos) (art0s): What else besides turning into a wolf is unique about the game?
Why a bunch of things, The many different game modes to jump into, different weoponry to choose from, The fact GM's and GS's run special events for players to win great prizes! Also the community itself makes for a great added element! Support from the community is a plus as well.
gmvalkyrie: Zezi (minorutono): Are there actually plans for Pride Missions?
Clan missions have been under development for a while, but are not yet ready for deployment. We know how anticipated these are, and want to make sure everything is working correctly before making the Clan missions available to all. Right now we don't have any timeline, but we want to see it as part of the game too! :)
gmdropkick: (harkonis): Will we ever get a mode that crosses Ice Hold with EX-Conquest?
We are always discussing changes and new games modes. If there seems to be enough of an interest in such a mode, and we sit down and say yes, this will be a success, then we will implement that certain mode
tsngreen: Jaden Ittanenn (jadenofthedni2): GM's. what weapon do think it the most useful vs wolfs. other than MG and RL?
The upgraded XEM is what comes to mind. Mainly because it's cheap and accurate with good stopping power. I would include the AK and the I-15T sniper rilfle. However anything with decent stopping power is going to hold a wolf in its tracks. You can always take my approach .....aim for the head. =D
gmvalkyrie: Zezi (minorutono): There were plans for a Pride Chain of Command system. Softnyx introduced this and then left it hanging. Are there plans for this?
This is a project we haven't heard anything about on our end. As such, it's likely something further down the road, or perhaps it ran into development issues that pushed it back far enough that Softnyx did not feel it necessary to bring to our attention. Remember, as publishers, we are more involved in the release of developed content than the development process.
gmdropkick: [GS]Mark (marksteele6): will there be a more interactive clan system? Right now it seems kinda bland because there are no ranks, no status, only master and members. The only benefit to being in a clan right now is pride wars and pride bingo.
We definitely want to make the clan system more customizable. We think it would be great for players to have additional features to set themselves apart. Its something that we know players would like to see as well. At the moment, clans just seem like a name and not much else. We think that with more features, these clans will feel more tight knit.
tsngreen: mantie233[§.o.Ð] (mantie233): do you plan to add a role playing missions to the game?
I think that's a great idea. We would need to see if it were possible, but it would be nice to have some solo/group missions for players to run through certain maps to complete map objectives following a storyline. Perhaps levels could be represented by wolf upgrades and extra life. We could even call it DungeonMOD. I think this is something that would be a great idea, whether or not the developers would be willing to create something this elaborate , I can't say.
gmvalkyrie: =ST=Superjudge (superjudge): If I lose connection during a match am I penalized just as I am when disconnecting?
Unfortunately yes. This system is to keep people from purposefully disconnecting in order to abuse the win/loss system. While this inconveniences people that legitimately disconnect, the overall impact benefits the game. After all, if I could just disconnect myself to avoid penalties, I'd be doing that 100% of the time I was going to lose anyway, and I'm Aeria Staff! (ok yeah so I'm not perfect..)
gmvalkyrie: therealhunterz: When is there going to be addtions to the types of wolves that can be picked? Like a 3rd mutation pack?
There's currently enough on the development pipeline that further wolf mutations are a low priority. There's a lot of things coming up soon, so just keep your eyes open for more updates as we hear more. :)
gmdropkick: wowomg123: Will there be a weapong testing area? so you can test your weapons before you buy them.
While we currently do not have plans for this feature, it is an interesting concept. I know I have bought a gun thinking it would be super awesome because I saw some really good player using it, only to actually try it and be disappointed with it's performance. Gun testing would be a tricky feature because it would require a server to play in JUST for the gun testing. It may be possible to allow a short time span on guns, say 5 minutes or so to test out a gun before it disappears. It is an interesting concept.
gmchipmunk: Zezi (minorutono): Is there a difference between the development team for Softnyx and for Aeria? If there is no difference, then besides the better Customer Support offered by Aeria, what is the point of playing Aeria's as opposed to Softnyx's?
There is a difference between Developer and Publisher (Aeria Games) The major one being development takes a lot of resources and time to do. Time the developer may not have if they need to also concentrate on areas of customer support.(Support is also an area a developer may have little experience with and can cost player base) A publisher will relieve this stress from the developer and allow them to focus on what they do best....development :D. So the difference would be more GM, GS moderation
events for prizes, etc etc that the other version may not have the personel to run.
tsngreen: therealhunterz: Which Operating system do you recommend is best for playing wolf team? Windows 7 Vista, xp?
Good question! Current here at Aeriagames, I'm using Windows XP, at home I have dual boot Windows Vista/Windows 7. Here at work I never get kicked out of game, on vista I get kicked out 40% of the time, and on Windows 7 I haven't had but a few problems. Most users reporting problems with Wolf Team are running all types of operating systems. However, if I had to choose one to play on, it would be XP.
gmvalkyrie: Harkonis (harkonis): Which wolf is the favorite choice of the developers in EX mode?
While I can't speak for the developers, we at Aeria all have our own favorites. I know SOMEONE that loves being a guardian, and another ghost2 advocate. Ando loves the smartwolf (watch out for him, he's tricky), and personally my favorite is the Berzerker :D
tsngreen: therealhunterz: will Golden Guns be avalible for purchase? and if so will it be for Gold(hence gold guns) or AP?
We currently have no plans to open up Gold Weapons to everyone. Right now they are used in promotions only. We may change this in the future, so stay tuned to the forums and in-game.
gmvalkyrie: lmin: Hey GM whats your favorite wolf?
As above, Berzerk. :D
gmdropkick: lmin: What Are U Guys Planning To Do In A Future Of Wolf Team To Make It More Funny And Competitive Game?
In terms of community relations, we try to make Wolf Team more fun by having events everyday that involves our community. Some of these events, like dropkick the GM where a GM with a huge chunk of health plays on one team that needs to defend him for 10 minutes while the opposing team tries to kill him, has proven a success and very enjoyable. We enjoy these events and are always thinking of new ones. We try to make Wolf Team more competitive by holding clan tournaments every Wednesday, as well as planning future tournaments that span a whole week. People love competition and we want to make it so they have a system to do it in.
tsngreen: lmin: Hey GM whats your favorite wolf?
Ghost Wolf. He's fast, invisible and dangerous. Everything you need in a FPS.
gmchipmunk: [GS]Mark (marksteele6): how does one go about become a GS for wolfteam? Are ther any specific requiremnts? what does GS mean anyway?
Good Question we are asked this frequently. A "GS" is a player who volunteers to help out not just in game but with the community as well! They will help with guiding new players with questions as well as run events and aiding a GM when he/she needs help with something. To become a GS we usually like to concider those who are active in the game and forums and those who are well known and respected as well. We usually hold a application period on the forums were you can submit a application. There are guidlines to follow in these posts. They will open up from month to month as a game see's the need to add a GS to the team.
tsngreen: Harkonis (harkonis): Will the Camo and other special art weapons from the Softnyx version ever be available in the Aeria published version?
We have no plans in doing this, however we're not against looking into it if players seem to want them badly enough. To a large extent Wolf Team will change based on the players. If you have enough people following the change you want to see, chances are that we'll spend some time thinking about how we can make it happen. Spend some time on the forums and put your ideas out there. We'd love to hear about your ideas.
tsngreen: To clarify, we plan to sell them in the future, just not at this time.
gmvalkyrie: =ST=Superjudge (superjudge): Could we get a system setup to store Weapon Points from previous rounds so that we don't have to start with basic weapons at the beginning of another match?
While that's good in theory, it takes away from the "everyone starts equal" of each round. This gives even pure newbs like me a chance to kill someone without getting a rocket launcher to the face.
gmchipmunk: and oooh man she is a newb ; D...sorry you left yourself wide open valk. te hehehe
tsngreen: Jaden Ittanenn (jadenofthedni2): if you could have any 2 items in wolf team what would they be? for me i would get the heart beat sensor from R63, i would also get a light saber
Item 1: Running shoes. +500% run speed
tsngreen: Item 2: Giant Sword
gmchipmunk: Light Sabers!
gmchipmunk: and a mini wolf attack pet!
gmdropkick: JARG (blackiffrit): what about the I Love You valentines day tattoo and special event items such as halloween stuff? would special holiday items be considered for inclusion?
Absolutely. We are excited about holidays just like everybody else, and we love to give free gifts out in times of giving.
gmchipmunk: ????? ?? ?????ll.??? (creatorzz): GMs wanne play a game later on? :P imma download WT then ;3
I dunno.....We may be a little to much for you guys to handle, all our powers combined we become the WOLF TEAM MEGAZORD of ownage ; D......We plan on having GM Team VS Player events in the near future
gmvalkyrie: [Xf Helper] Jubjub (breadie): Zezi (minorutono): Question : Many people complain about the unfairness of one side or another in Wolf Conquest or Destruction. I personally do not. However, in your opinion do you think that having an option to switch sides halfway through the game would help this supposed Unfairness? The Halfway switch is already used in Pride Wars. Should this be implemented into regular games as well? As an option, not as default.
In my own opinion, I don't think introducing a new feature to the game modes is a 100% solution. If it was optional, it might resolve some grumbles and gripes, but at the same time, those modes are never extremely populus as it is. If someone doesn't want a mid-game switch, it might become harder for them to find a suitable game. It's a fine line to tread, but it's definitely something worth considering.
tsngreen: Thanks all
tsngreen: Questions coming out of my ears. =P
gmdropkick: thanks guys for coming :)
gmchipmunk: thank you everyone
gmvalkyrie: =ST=Superjudge (superjudge): Are there any Easter Eggs in WT?
Most games do , but we're unfamiliar with what might be Eggs in wolf team. If there are Eggs, I suspect they're geared more towards the culture that developed the game. However, we may be able to make it more our own, especially if I get a gun named after me. That'd be awesome. *hope*
gmvalkyrie: Ok everyone, thank you so much for showing up, and it was good to see the turnout!
wolfteamleader:Thank you to Aeria games, Wolf Team and all the participants for joining us this afternoon! Now on to the winners!
