The Project Reality mod reworks the Battlefield 2 game engine including adjusting the physics, visual effects and gameplay, to create a realistic combat environment. The mod installs alongside the existing game allowing both the original and Project Reality to be played separately without causing conflicts.

Project Reality is developed by a devoted team spread across the world, drawn from a wide range of careers. Many of the developers have backgrounds in the armed forces, enabling the team to create the most realistic experience around. In addition, the developers are supported by many contributors from the Project Reality community.

The Project Reality Mod continues to grow in popularity and has never ceased to be among the most played Battlefield 2 mods. As the changes progressed into workable features it became a product with a frequent release schedule, providing the gaming community with a realism mod containing much original content and unique gameplay.

With the addition of the British army, along with insurgent and milita factions and many new weapons and vehicles for the existing armies there is a huge amount of new content in Project Reality. In the current release there are 15 all-new maps, some of which are up to four times the size of any maps seen in retail Battlefield 2.

The modification has been successful in several competitions, including GameFlood's 'Map and Mod' contest and the annual moddb.com "Mod Of The Year" competition; placing second in moddb.com's top 100 of 2006 and featuring again in the top 100 this year - and with only a matter of days until the top ten of 2007 are listed, hopes are high in the Project Reality camp!
