Thank you to everyone in the gaming community for your support of Xfire against Yahoo’s baseless lawsuit. The support we have received has been overwhelming. Over 30,000 of you signed the online petition one of our users created, and many of you sent emails to Yahoo to express your opinion. Plus, several journalists are now writing articles that will let many others know about this case.
We hope that Yahoo has heard how gamers feel about the lawsuit based on letters sent by our users, and news articles that have covered the lawsuit. We think we should all get back to gaming for now! In the meantime, please
1) keep spreading the word about Xfire using Xfire’s cool new miniprofiles,
2) be sure to sign up for our new free file download channels, and
3) invite even more of your friends to game with Xfire!

Xfire filed a countersuit against Yahoo. The countersuit states that Yahoo’s lawsuit is a baseless attempt to drive Xfire out of business or to force Xfire to sell or license its proprietary technology.

Xfire responds to patent infringement claim and offers Yahoo the following options to prove we do not infringe its patent:
We have offered to let Yahoo’s co-founders, Jerry Yang and David Filo, review our code to make them comfortable that we don’t infringe Yahoo’s patent.
We have offered mediation as a step towards resolving the matter.
Finally, we are willing to pursue arbitration, in which case we will accept the arbitrator’s decision as binding and final.
Yahoo has not responded to any of our offers to quickly prove we are not infringing and continues to pursue legal action that could cost Xfire $2 million or more in legal fees.

Yahoo Inc. filed a lawsuit against Xfire claiming patent infringement over US Patent No. 6,699,125. The first we heard of Yahoo’s patent infringement claims was a call made the night before Yahoo filed its lawsuit. Yahoo never attempted to contact us beforehand nor did it send a cease & desist letter.
Many of you have asked us how you can help. Thank you so much for your wonderful support! Here are a few things you can do.
1. Sign The "Yahoo Lawsuit on Xfire - Stop It" Petition
One of our Xfire users created this petition. It should take less than a minute to sign the petition and show your support.
