Xfire is part of MTV Network’s exciting Games division. Our group is on the lookout for bright and creative students to participate in our internship program. Our internships are designed to offer students an opportunity to gain insight into the online gaming platform and community. Interns obtain hands-on experience by working in jobs related to their career fields and by interacting with professionals in on-the-job situations.
Candidate Eligibility:
- Students must be registered for an internship for academic credit with their college or university, and must provide official documentation upon acceptance of this internship.
- Preference to college upperclassmen (students entering their junior or senior year).
- Must be available about 16-30 hours a week for a minimum of 10 weeks (no weekends). Normal business hours are 9:30am-5:30pm.
- The program runs during the spring, summer and fall semesters. Application dates for resume submissions are rolling.
Accepted interns will be required to provide by their first day:
- Letter on school letterhead confirming you are registered for an internship class which provides academic credit, attached with class schedule
- Two letters of recommendation (could be from an employer, advisor or professor)
- Transcripts (can be unofficial)
The following Internships will be available:
Software Quality Assurance
You will work to ensure the stability and functionality of our products, both our client software and our website.
Responsibilities:
- Learn and become familiar with our website, product, features and functions
- Learn the development and QA testing cycle
- Learn different types of testing, Ad-hoc, matrix, test plan, P1 testing, regression, etc.
- Learn to properly isolate, reproduce, and document inconsistencies and functionality issues (bugs)
- Work with the Xfire Customer Support team to track and research reports from users
Skills Required:
- Excellent written and verbal skills
- Ability to prioritize workload and meet deadlines
- Attention to detail
- Strong knowledge of PC hardware and software
Preferred Major(s):
CS (Comp Science), CIS (Comp Information Systems), MIS (Management Information Systems)

Technical Customer Service
You will help the ever expanding Xfire user base with all problems (Technical and Non-technical) related to the Xfire client software and website.
Responsibilities:
- Learn the features and functions of our client software and website
- Learn how to use the Xfire administrator moderator tools
- Learn how to correspond and track incoming requests for help
- Submit user reported bugs to the QA and Development teams concerning
- Organize and moderate the community forums and FAQ.
Skills Required:
- Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal
- Familiarity with online forums
- Strong knowledge of PC hardware and software applications
- Attention to detail
- Strong customer service skills, ability to deal with all different types of people
- Ability to find resolutions to any problems or tasks given

Software Engineering
You will help the engineering group responsible for the Xfire Windows executable.
Responsibilities:
- Fixing simple bugs
- Scanning old bugs for relevance to current product
- Potentially implementing new features for the Xfire client
Skills Required:
- Knowledge of C++ is a must
- Person must be willing to learn and have excitement about adding to the product

Computer science/math or any major with a desire to go into engineering field
