Release 1.82 beta
2007-10-02 8:56 PM PDT
It's time for another Xfire release! A new beta version of Xfire is available for testing. It will be live until roughly Thursday, 10/4/07, at 6pm Pacific Time.

Download Xfire Beta 1.82a now

Exit Xfire. Copy 82a.exe to your Xfire data installation directory (usually c:\Program Files\Xfire\ on XP and c:\ProgramData\Xfire on Vista) and run it to update your Xfire. If you don't know how to do this, then you probably should not be attempting to beta test Xfire. To verify that this worked, go to the Help | About box. The beta version of Xfire will report build 28220.

Notes:

  • There are 58 new games with the new Xfire In-Game interface with mouse support enabled. Please let us know if you have any problems with them!
  • The new Xfire In-Game interface now has an options button which lets you enable a clock and an fps counter. Try them out in the Shadow skin, Xfire skin, and Standard skin.
  • You can place and receive voice calls from the new Xfire In-Game interface.

Please restrict discussion of the beta to this blog thread. This is to help us track your feedback. We are interested in your experiences with the new beta, specifically anything that goes horribly wrong. Thanks for your help!

Download Xfire Beta 1.80a now (download link removed)

Exit Xfire. Copy 80a.exe to your Xfire data installation directory (usually c:\Program Files\Xfire\ on XP and c:\ProgramData\Xfire on Vista) and run it to update your Xfire. Notes:

  • Check out the new Xfire skin called Shadow (Tools | Skins | Shadow)

  • Until the servers are updated, screenshots in infoviews are a little wonky. Don't worry about that. Also, there will be a special treat in the infoviews once the servers are updated.

Xfire Beta 1.79
2007-08-01 11:36 AM PDT
It's time for another Xfire release! A new beta version of Xfire is available for testing. It will be live until roughly Thursday, 8/2/07, at 6pm Pacific Time.

Download Xfire Beta 1.79a now (download link removed)

Exit Xfire. Copy 79a.exe to your Xfire data installation directory (usually c:\Program Files\Xfire\ on XP and c:\ProgramData\Xfire on Vista) and run it to update your Xfire. If you don't know how to do this, then you probably should not be attempting to beta test Xfire. To verify that this worked, go to the Help | About box. The beta version of Xfire will report build 27354.

Things we especially want you to test:

  • Windows Vista--Xfire will now run two processes, one elevated and one not, for Xfire In-Game to work with games that run elevated (because of UAC). Test out Xfire In-Game as much as you can, especially with Battlefield 2, ijji Gunz, and games that support Punkbuster.
  • The new Xfire In-Game interface is enabled for Guild Wars. It uses the mouse as well as the keyboard.

Welcome to the Xfire Blog system
2007-04-02 3:22 PM PDT
We've finally added a way to let you post news about your gaming world up on Xfire. Soon, we'll integrate it into the profile page, but right now we're alpha testing so it's only on these not-so-findable pages. Test it out and let us know what you think. Don't forget to stress test the bbcode tags as well!
