Xfire Release 1.103 Beta
2009-01-13 6:32 PM PST
It's time for another Xfire release! A new beta version of Xfire is available for testing.

Download Xfire Beta 1.103b now

Exit Xfire. Copy 103b.exe to your Xfire data installation directory (usually c:\Program Files\Xfire\ on XP and c:\ProgramData\Xfire on Vista) and run it to update your Xfire. If you don't know how to do this, then you probably should not be attempting to beta test Xfire.

Please restrict discussion of the beta to this blog thread. This is to help us track your feedback. We are interested in your experiences with the new beta, specifically anything that goes horribly wrong. Thanks for your help!

Nice that the web browser is now supported in more games, but I had a problem that the actual content area is 100% transparent. The other parts of the browser window skin are normal. You can click on the links on the web page by monitoring the status field to see the URLs but you cannot see the actual web page :/

Also very nice that you can now click on links in chat to open the browser to that page

I have the same problem, but not in all games though... The content of the browser is fully transparent.

UPDATE:
Now i cant get that bug anymore. I tried various games, and they work fine now. Ill keep you posted when i find out more :-/

Thanks guys for the feedback. The content area of the XIGBrowser being transparent issue has been corrected with the 103b.exe update. Please check it out and report back any findings.

*Note*
There was a problem when the XIGBrowser first got initialized. So if you launched a game that would cause the problem, none of your games after would work until restarting Xfire. Vise Versa applies, if you launched a game that worked with XIGBrowser then every game after would work too. Thanks again for the catch.

No problems with the new beta. Eveything works basicly like before, but some porblems remain from the first release.

1. When watching a webpage with sound playing, and you close the browser, the sound keeps playing through the game. (close through the X in top right, also with scroll-lock X)
2. Xfire-Live-Broadcasts dont play in the browser. Neither does Mediaplayer content.
3. No blinking cursor in text fields or address-bar of browser.
4. Firewall keeps asking if i want to allow the game again (once for every game though).
5. Chat window, FPS counter and Time widget get closed when opening webbrowser. And when opening chat window the browser disappears.
Dono if this is done to save resources or something, but would be nice to keep chat and browser open at same time. Just noticed that if you pin the browser window on the screen the FPS and Clock get shown, but then you cant browse (which is obvious). But everything disappears when you open chat again. Also with the browser screen, the broadcast bar stays in the screen.
6. Flash movies/animations get projected over the scrollbars of the browser when they dont fit completely.

Thats it for now, i'll keep updating this when i find more.

Hmm, when I try to open the Web Browser in Doom3, nothing will show, and the mouse still has focus on something. Could it be because I'm using 800x600 res??

EDIT: Mkay, it seems to not work on ANY game, after doing what the other comment said, "to restart xfire after you run a game." I just wanted to check it out.

"Xfire.exe not found, Update failed" I even put 103b.exe directly above the xfire.exe then below it and it always says the same thing. I tried cloing xfire, still the same thing. I can't voice chat with anyone. It rings but none hears it ring and I don't hear them ring either. Can't type chat just fine, but any chat program can do that and if I can only type chat there is no point in chatting within games. Such a problematic prog this is.
