Packed in a cardboard coffin.....

so title suggests, today i spoke to a microsoft rep, good news my xbox warranty has been extended (yay) this means i dont have to pay a penny for its repair. only bad news bieng is turn around time is approx 20 days, not bad you think, yes i can live without it for 20 days, i always have my trusty PC to play, but im leaving for spain on the 5th of next month, the race is on! will it get returned in time..... i suppose all can do is wait..

now for the ranty type thing!

why would microsoft relese a console WORLDWIDE if they new there was a problem with the hardware, i read somewhere that this was confind to first gen consoles, but mine was manufactured in march 2006! it was in no way first gen.... i mean why else extend the warranty from 1 to 3 years, yes its a good thing in a way, but i paid alot of money for my box and i thought at least it would get through the year without any major probs (how wrong was i) and this is the first console that has cr@pped out on me.. i googled the "ring of death" to see how widespread the problem was (try yourself), and well i was surprised by the amount of people that have experienced the same as me.. i dunno i suppose i feel let down, i paid cash that i WORKED MY A$$ off for, if i knew how unreliable the console was i would prolly not have bothered getting one, i looked after my xbox, it was well ventilated, dust free, clean and in mint condition. But i suppose in a way i was just delaying the inevitable(?). now dont get me wrong, i think the console (when it works) is great! games are fantastic, xbox live allows me to play against freinds and family alike and for some reason the controllers are the most comfortable ive used (does not beat a mouse and keyboard tho)... some of you may agree, some disagree but when something you have worked hard for gives up the ghost not even a year after purchase it feels like a kick in the teeth.

i suppose the question that im trying to figure out is, "will it happen again?" and if so will it be worth the hassle of...

EX-BOX 360

its is a grim day indeed, after a frustrating day at work i strolled through my front door and thought id release my frustrations playing gears of war, i switched on my console. "an update is avalible for your console" a greeting which i had seen many time before, i accepted this offer. a couple of seconds passed, and my console powered down.

at this point things were going just peachy.

then it happened (dun dun duuuuuuuuuuuuun)
my 360 froze up on the logo screen. but this was not any "normal" freeze up, the logo on my screen was strange, it was made up of red squares. "odd" i thought to my self as i switched the console off and restarted it, but it was too late nothing could be done, i stared vacantly at the screen,

nothing

my eyes lowered to the console,

blink, blink, blink.

the room was illuminated with a red glow (i know its an exaggeration) coming from the ring of light on the console.

three red lights.... the sign from microsoft itself saying "you`ve just been screwed, have a fantastic day"

i searched for the manual... where is it i thought. i found it and flipped to the back page. "customer support" i thought, the light at the end of a dark tunnel. but no

"our offices are closed at the moment please try again later"<----- at this point a tiny vien in my forehead exploded.

"dammit" i exlaimed whilst slamming the phone down, id missed office hours by 10 mins, surley there was someone still there, tiding their desk away or finishing their game on the ps3 that was in the office.

im gonna call tomorrow before work, that`ll put me in a wonderful mood.
