so title suggests, today i spoke to a microsoft rep, good news my xbox warranty has been extended (yay) this means i dont have to pay a penny for its repair. only bad news bieng is turn around time is approx 20 days, not bad you think, yes i can live without it for 20 days, i always have my trusty PC to play, but im leaving for spain on the 5th of next month, the race is on! will it get returned in time..... i suppose all can do is wait..
now for the ranty type thing!
why would microsoft relese a console WORLDWIDE if they new there was a problem with the hardware, i read somewhere that this was confind to first gen consoles, but mine was manufactured in march 2006! it was in no way first gen.... i mean why else extend the warranty from 1 to 3 years, yes its a good thing in a way, but i paid alot of money for my box and i thought at least it would get through the year without any major probs (how wrong was i) and this is the first console that has cr@pped out on me.. i googled the "ring of death" to see how widespread the problem was (try yourself), and well i was surprised by the amount of people that have experienced the same as me.. i dunno i suppose i feel let down, i paid cash that i WORKED MY A$$ off for, if i knew how unreliable the console was i would prolly not have bothered getting one, i looked after my xbox, it was well ventilated, dust free, clean and in mint condition. But i suppose in a way i was just delaying the inevitable(?). now dont get me wrong, i think the console (when it works) is great! games are fantastic, xbox live allows me to play against freinds and family alike and for some reason the controllers are the most comfortable ive used (does not beat a mouse and keyboard tho)... some of you may agree, some disagree but when something you have worked hard for gives up the ghost not even a year after purchase it feels like a kick in the teeth.
i suppose the question that im trying to figure out is, "will it happen again?" and if so will it be worth the hassle of...
