Who is most important to heal in WAR?
2008-10-26 12:23 AM PDT
Everything is situational, you could be getting zerged down so hard that the tank has no chance to fend off the attackers even if you dump your entire healing bar/morales into him as where the caster and support with his good positioning can keep dps on people who are pushing with those heals.

Other times the tank can be holding the line keeping people snared and taking a beating from other tanks allowing your support and casters to push back on them.

In combat you have to be the judge of who to let die and who to keep up, it's not about staring at a healing bar and picking primary healing targets. You control the fight and the direction with your situational awareness, if you see that your tank is pushing in and killing people and a Witch Elf jumps a caster, your priority is the frontline and the caster needs to help you by detaunting, rooting, knockdown etc... because if your frontline goes down your getting pushed back and rolled anyways. Generally whatever rogue jumps the caster is surey going to die if you keep his target up or not, so it's not going to affect the battle one way or another.

You are the key communicator between the tanks and DPS, if you get jumped you need to either ask for a peal from a tank by judging his ETA to you, or if you feel like the tank can hold his own for a bit because he's not tanking a huge amount of damage you can have the Ranged dps focus him down while you kite away from his healers and have the tank keep holding the frontlines to the rest isn't pushing on your support. (Chances are if you call a tank back you need to extend to reposition backwards to and try to regain momentum after you just put out the FIRE that was on you... get it... putting out the fires.. (Sometimes in battle people make their own fires by being retarded that you have to put out a good example of this is a caster who thinks if he JUST stands there 5 more seconds to kill a target, he's sacrificing himself to a tank forcing YOU to put out his fire by healing him. It's these cracks in the...

Best Gaming Rig for $700

Intel Mid-Range(Click Links) - $716.92 After Rebates $616.92

This build is a hybrid between the Mid-Range and Low Range system. Taking advantage of newegg combo's and rebates I have made this system a true deal and also adding a Nice beafy Asus Heatsink and fan to allow more overclocking. I have done a lot of reasearch between NVIDIA and ATI, and I must say ATI has the 4850 which is better performing and lower power consumption then the revised NVIDIA 8800GTX+ and that was testing the 4850 @ 625mhz and your getting a 680mhz card. The 4870 starts at 750mhz and is almost $150 more!! Have a look at THIS Anandtech review of the 9800GTX+ to really understand why I choose the 4850 over the 8800GTX+. I can't WAIT till INTEL starts competing with NVIDIA, and ATI for GPU's your going to see great things to come in the next few years if these price wars keep up. Lots of time and research went into this build to squeeze every performance out of every dollar and I think the proof is in the pudding on the final price after rebates.

Kick ass Gaming Rig for under $500?
2008-10-24 3:45 AM PDT
OK, So I'm Pricing out a Comp for a friend and I decided to share my research in what I consider the best bang for your buck right now. These builds that are capable of lasting quite a few years with today's games and I challenge anyone to find better performing components for a cheaper price. (Without going with Generic Garbage)

AMD Low Range (Click Links)- $479.93 After Rebates $434.93

I'm not a huge fan of AMD, but when it comes to price they have Intel beat. If your not looking to overclock your CPU for more performance then AMD is the cheaper route. I stopped using AMD since the 1ghz K7 series came out because of retarded chipsets and constant crashing issues. However, since 2000 they have made their CPU's much more mainstream and reliable for home users, but if your looking for 100% stability like most businesses then I would recommend INTEL CPU's. This Build also uses the Power Supply that comes with the case. The power supply is more then enough to support this build, however cheap power supply's are just that... CHEAP!!! It's not a question of IF it will go out on you... it's a question of WHEN. If you don't mind spending the $50 to get a better Power Supply then do it, if not you can take your chances and let it ride for 6 months? 12 months? 24 months? before it goes then replace it. See the Power supply in the Mid-Range System for a recommended power supply.

I also am putting down 2 video cards both which are VERY similar, The AMD card is only $10 more after it's rebate but in every benchmark I've seen it's beaten a 9800GT @ 625Mhz Stock speed and this one is running @680mhz with a super nice Glaciator Heatsink/fan. Why not just recommend it instead of 9800 GT? Some people may have had issues in the past like I have with AMD. They both are very similar cards and both will perform exceptional in any game you throw at it. It's more personal preference.

I hate Ventrilo with a passion....
2008-10-23 6:18 AM PDT
Why is it that every idiot with a $2.99 MIC thinks he can double click the Ventrilo application and join a server without any setup before hand. Is checking Mic Volume, and your feedback so impossible? I mean After all there is a "TEST" icon in the SETUP to actually TEST it.

And what's with people who find it so impossible to push a key for "PUSH-TO-TALK" It's bad enough I have to manually adjust your booming voice, or 10000% mouse fart voice in vent, but you ALSO make me listen to your heavy panting while doing god knows what while you play. Nobody wants to hear your bitchy ass girlfriend/wife in the background because you didn't take out the garbage either! So PLEASE PUSH TO TALK!

I remember a day when their was no ventrilo, and people had to pay attention to chat to communicate. Sure it might of taken an extra 30-40seconds to type out instructions, but once they were given out it was easy to follow because it was SPELLED OUT FOR YOU. But now, people are so lazy they don't even bother to LISTEN to you in the channel. You can give out instructions and have someone 10 seconds later ask you what were doing. It makes me want to rip the MIC out of my computer and start typing again. Anyways, that's my rant for today.

Rental Video Slogan "Please be kind, please rewind"

Ventrilo Slogan "Don't be a lazy asshat"

Almost similar....

Has WOW made gamers too Casual?
2008-10-21 4:06 PM PDT
Back when I first starting gaming, I always felt a desire to play with other people. If it wasn't Madden on the couch, to 24hr mountain Dew driven lan parties of Counterstrike. After all, what's the point of playing a game if you can't share your fun and experiences with your friends right? It's the time to brag and enjoying being competitive with each other. That competitive spirit for me always carried over to MMORPG's

Yet, as I embark on my 12th or 13th MMO (Warhammer), I feel this empty void as I play not because I don't have people to play with. I have plenty of friends who play. The community that I compete with just doesn't feel very competitive at all. Killing people in PvP feels like killing mobs. I feel like my competition is way to casual. They put no time or dedication into the characters they play making them easy kills.

As for the server community I play (Badlands) I find no real guilds to compete with. What do I mean by real? Real to me is a structured and organized guild that plans events and works as a team. I see no leadership nor competition as we move towards end-game in Warhammer. So has WOW made all these gamers too lazy to compete? Or have companies who develop MMO's in their haste to make more money turned a blind eye on us competitive players?
