The new update will install version 44223 and be adding 14 new games and fixes for 11 games. We are tracking an on-going issue with League of Legends related to the new RADS system. Today we rolled out some website updates and version 44193 of our game updates. This game's update includes more games because we didn't do a games update last week due to the client update.
We don't usually post every website update, but we did roll out 6 important site fixes, optimizations, and features that will help you in your account management.

Xfire Client Update 1.133 Going Live Tod...

Hey Everyone,
Today, we will be updating the Xfire client to version 1.133. We will be performing a global IM server restart, which means that users who are logged in will be momentarily disconnected from the service. The expected downtime is about 5 minutes. The restart will happen at about 4:30 PST.
The release notes are below. You probably have automatically downloaded the client; so no need to re download.
Release Notes:
Implemented chat room spam control. If a user attempts to spam a chat room, the spam isn’t received by the people in attendance, and they will receive the message: “You have attempted to send too many messages within a short amount of time. Please wait before you send another message.” Spamming a chat room will result in a permanent (non-appealable) ban from the Xfire network.
OpenCandy (a system used to give users third party programs during install) has been removed from the Xfire installer;
The Xfire installer’s EULA has been updated to reflect the removal of OpenCandy (i.e. that section has been removed from the EULA);
Fixed an issue where users were unable to register using the Xfire client. Users can now register from the Xfire client correctly;
Xfire XO Toolbar is now available for Chrome in alpha-test form. There are many known bugs, but you’re free to give it a try! (Web Game Detection is not supported on multiple tabs, and sometimes doesn’t work at all). It is possible that this version, codenamed: Lucifer, will blow up your screen, steal your kids (if applicable), and cause a nuclear strike. If you want to be responsible for the unleashing of World War III, please be sure to use it with Caution. Our TOS doesn't cover WW III.

I want to tell a story that I think has some significant meaning to our future.
In late 1990's, Netscape was the market leader in browsers. It was the first major browser and it ushered in a new age of this fantastic contraption called "The World Wide Web". It let people do things they wern't ever able to do previously.
As time went on, other companies tried to cash in on Netscape's invention. Microsoft was on the Horizon, and had a new plan to make everyone use their browser.
As IE grew in market share (because it was default), Netscape began to see declines in who was using it. Although they are credited with what they did, almost no one pays homage to them.
Netscape would eventually become only a shell of what it once was, and AOL would end up buying them. AOL tried to inject new life, but it was dead, and AOL knew it and killed the Netscape division. IE had dealt a bad blow to Netscape, and the fight was over...or was it?
Netscape would concede this horrible defeat, and open sourced their browser for archival and historical purposes. They called the organization that was responsible for keeping it alive, The Mozilla foundation. The Microsoft noted the victory, and put The IE on hiatus.
While all of this was going on, in 2002, The Mozilla foundation decided to take their vision of the browser, and create a whole new one. It's codename was very fitting: "Phoenix".
Since its first release, Mozilla built in a cool easter egg called The Book of Mozilla. It was a fictional book that prophesied the future of this new browser. Little did the developers know, they would be exactly right.
Phoenix then grew into what you know today as Firefox, and it was a blockbuster. But more than that, it forced competition. Google, Apple, Opera, and even The IE were spurred to make their browsers better.
Competition drives innovation.

RIP Mr. Bannana (oh and GFire) 4/1-4/2

April 2, 2011 - GUNTHERS PALACE - GFire is sad to inform the public that Gunther Glideback, the CEO of GFire (a wholly owned subsidiary of GAYMZ, Inc) has died.
The accident took place at Gunther's palace while filming his next music video: "Baby got Gack". Apparently, a stagehand by the name of 'NoahFense' left a banana peel on the floor. Despite his smooth moves and soft bottom, Gunther sliped and fell on the banana peel into a barrel of Acid eyes first.
"I am so sorry! I was just memorized by Gunther, that I forgot where I left my peel!" the stage hand said. No charges have been filed, while the [GFGM] team investigates.
The bannana peel did not survive the incident. The banana was being used in a scene of "Baby got Gack". It leaves behind a wife and a heart broken staff of GFire. It had no children, and the video production has been halted.
Upon hearing of the news, GFire's management team released the following statement: "We're all saddened by the loss of our beloved banana. We can only hope that it made its way into the giant Banana Split in the sky". "You know, I just liked the way he made the whole office smell like banana." said John Holder, GFire's manager of Communities and Communications. "We even hung a 'No Monkies Allowed' sign to make sure he was safe here. Who woulda thought that he would be here one minute and then gone the next.", John added.
Services have not been announced for Mr. Banana.
In other news, considering the circumstances surrounding Gunther Glideback's death; effective immediately, GFire's management team has decided to change the company's name back to Xfire and remove the alterations to the profiles to honor Mr. Banana. Mr. Banana and Gunter Glideback were great friends, often taking many trips together. "It is what he would have wanted" said some person who we think works here.

April 1, 2011 - SOME PERSON'S BASEMENT - Xfire is pleased to announce that it has been acquired by 'Gunther Appreciation for Yoshi, Mario, and Zelda corp' (or GAYMZ for short). The deal was set in motion to begin the transfer of all Xfire information on April First.
Effective as of Apr 1st, Xfire has changed its name to GFire, per our agreement. GFire's new CEO, Gunther Glideback, as also made it a top priority to make sure that GFire stays relevant to it's youthful audience by integrating the fictional show: "Mighty Morphen* Power Rangers" into the core system of Xfire.
