Join the Xfire academy
2008-03-10 7:09 PM PDT
We've had so many good returns from our users on the last events we've organised with pro players lately we got scared and decided to make a break.

No play with event or chat with pro players, no mixed games... we've spoilt you, it got on our nerves.

Instead, we've mixed it all together and spiced it just a bit to make it fun in a way so damn extraordinary I'm ashamed even to use the word to describe the sensation.

It's called Xfire Academy and honestly, if I wasn't working for Xfire, running the event, I'd certainly be... well maybe not playing it since I've never played an FPS game in my life but wishing I'd had just to attend this.

And we've made the whole process to register for the event so fluid I'm rendered almost speechless. Literally. So I just decided I'd paste the link of the webpage around and let you discover with your own eyes what this night is going to be !

I just thought I could warn you beforehand if you had anything serious planned already for this day - Tuesday the 18th of March, by the way, but by now you should have clicked on one of the hidden links to this awesome micro-site where you'll have captured this information already - If you had anything planned, then, don't look, because you will feel bound to cancel all other appointments this evening.

On wednesday, eat Tiramisu with a long spoon.

Yes, it's not easy finding decent pics of gaming, so I thought just for once I'd randomly follow an alternative road.

Our partner, Verygames, who's provided us with great technical support during the last editions of the Xfire Trophy, through their cristal clear management of HLTV and SourceTV is about to launch a new offer !

It's called Dedigames, and it's a revolution Mao himself would have been jealous of : giving the opportunity to host a game server on a dedicated host while still allowing the flexibility of the Verygames server.

Though the service is not quite available yet, they're nearing the end of their long journey and share with us the last stages of development on a dedicated blog.

Of course, it speaks French. But you've never had a better reason to learn it !

Germany's finest on Xfire!
2008-02-04 10:11 AM PST

Picture with strange german writing. Find out what it all means tomorrow. (Naah, it just means, "play with the best".)
You can click the picture to get to the event page, by the way.

Tomorrow (tuesday the 5th of february) we will have two of the best german teams attending Xfire. They will be playing Counter-Strike, Counter-Strike: Source and Call of Duty 4 together with you.

So, this time around, the teams will all be from Germany. A great chance for all of you to measure your skill against one of the greatest gaming nations in the world. Don't worry though, everyone can attend, you don't have to be german. We unfortunately had a team cancel on us last minute, and couldn't find a replacement. But, all accounts will still be active, five of them will just be doubles.

As usual, it will be Nicolas, Thomas and me running the event. I will be doing it from an IT-café in Stockholm, since I'm actually away on a trip right now.
But Xfire never rests, we always try to give you the most awesome gaming experience.

I hope I'll see you tomorrow,
Until then, may the frag be with you.

Hans

Also, we would really appreciate if you leave feedback here after the event. Your feedback is crucial to us!

Final match of the Ladies Trophy on Game...
2008-01-31 4:53 PM PST
To open up february on a rare sight, don't miss aAa vs StarComa Friday at 20:30 (CET) !

Both team have a lot to prove. The girls from aAa should be eager to follow the footsteps of their male counterparts from aAa who've won here already. Holding their World Champion belt from last year, they'll be awaited all the more.

Especially by StarComa, considered one of their best rivals in Europe. The german girls have a lot to prove. But the Xfire Trophy has witnessed bigger upsets than this one would be.

Be smart. Tune in to GameOne on Friday the 1st of February, at 20:30 (CET) !

aAa's ESWC roster. Good to go.

TEK9 goes best friends.
2008-01-30 4:38 AM PST
First of all. We love TEK9.

No, seriously, we really do.

Why, you ask?
Simple. They are a great team in every way. They show up on Xfire and hang around, playing with you, our users, and they do it in a very professional manner.
They've got a nice page that's not only about the team itself, but about esports in general as well.

And, now, all of a sudden, they implemented a very cool feature on their homepage.

The feature I'm talking about is the Xfire Mini-Profile (Link!), a small field where the most important Xfire stuff about you is listed.
It will show if you are online, what games you have played the most and where you are playing at the moment (if you are online). And, as a bonus, it looks pretty sweet and works in real time.
But seriously, enough with the marketing talk now.
I think you all know that the mini profiles are cool, and now that one of the biggest team sites has started supporting them, they will become more and more popular.

I just added mine on TEK9, and just to clarify some things I drew a few instructions and pointers.

Click on the picture to get a bigger one.

And I'd also like to thank you all for yesterdays event, I think it was the best pro night so far. I'm already looking forward to the next one.

PS. Just between you and me, there might be some other sites adding the mini profiles in the future, but I'm not allowed to talk about that, so don't mention it to anyone. DS.

Time for Xfire Pro Night!
2008-01-24 8:55 AM PST
The pro night is closing in. On tuesday it will be going down, some of the best teams in the world will be available on Xfire for you to play with. There's something for everyone, we will be playing Call of duty 4, Counter-Strike, Counter-Strike: Source and Team Fortress 2, and the last one is pretty cool. It's actually the first time we have team fortress 2 on Xfire.
It's a really great game, and it's not really anything like most other FPS games out there. I really suggest you all show up with your medics, heavies and spies, ready to take on 4Kings. Let the havoc begin!

Check the event page in case you have any questions!

Hans

Am I the one on the left or on the right? I'm not quite sure. Oh well...

The message, however, is pretty clear. We will be playing Team fortress 2 on Xfire on tuesday. But don't forget the other games, we will play CS, CS:S and COD4 as well, with some of the best teams there are.
