Moving Forums!
2012-03-16 4:55 PM PDT
Many of you have asked that we update Xfire's public user forums with new features. Rather than put lipstick on that pig, we figured we'd just overhaul it with a more robust system. What does this mean to the Xfire community forum users? It means a much better system with new features, flexible options, customizations, better layout, and a warmer feeling all around.
These features will be launching within the next week. We will notify you in advance of a 48-hour down time while we migrate all of your old forum posts to the new forum software. Everything else will be seamless, so you won't need any new passwords, and you won't lose your forum history.
Check out a small list of the features you will enjoy:
1. Post notifications via email - Has this ever happened to you? You posted in the forums, but couldn't do anything else because you were constantly refreshing the page waiting for a reply. No more! We've broken the shackles with post notifications. We're using a state of the art system the kids are calling "Email" to let you know when someone has responded to your post so stop clicking the refresh button and get back to chalking up head shots.
2. Attachments - Having a technical problem? A picture is worth a thousand words. The new system lets you easily attach screenshots or debugging information for quick review.
3. Reputation system - Think a user deserves some rep after posting a well-written constructive post? Give them props with reputation points! With reputation points, you'll be working your way up to higher ranks earning access to a wider range of features and options!
4. WYSIWYG editor - For those who don't know BB Code, the new "What You See Is What You Get" lets you format posts like a pro without the learning curve.
5. Quick Reply - No more having to load another page just to reply a post; simply write your post at the bottom of the thread you're reading!
6. Overall forum and thread viewing - With the flexible settings for...

Xfire Partners With Twitch.TV for Live.....
2012-03-05 4:57 PM PST
With Xfire’s release today, we are making the switch from LiveStream to Twitch.Tv. For the last 9 years, Xfire has been 100% dedicated to gamers. Every feature exists to help you play games, find games, and improve & share your skills. We are dedicated to ensuring that Xfire continues to grow and develop with gamers first. We think this mentality should carry through to our partners, so when it came time to evaluate our live broadcast feature, Twitch.Tv, with its 100% dedication to broadcasting games and game content, looked to be a perfect fit.
Xfire’s current broadcasters won’t see too much change and you do not need to have a Twitch.TV account to broadcast. The switch is mostly transparent and will happen with an automatic update. Just as before, all you have to do is call up the Xfire In-Game Overlay (XIG) and click the broadcast icon in the lower right corner of the screen. Alternatively you can use the hot key (Scroll Lock-B by default) to start and stop the broadcast. When your first broadcast is started, you will see a One-Time prompt to either use an existing Justin.Tv or Twitch.Tv account, or to start broadcasting with your Xfire account. If you choose to use an existing Twitch.Tv account, once authenticated, you are good to go. Just close the In-Game Browser and start broadcasting. Your stream will appear on both Xfire.com and on your Twitch.Tv Channel. If you choose to use your Xfire account, we’ll set that up for streaming. Again, once done, just close the browser and start broadcasting. Your broadcast will be viewable on xfire.com. At any time, should you decide to use a Twitch.Tv account, you can do so by clicking the “Twitch.Tv Options” Button found in Tools>Options>Live Broadcasts. No matter which you choose, when your broadcast starts, a chat room will be created so you can field questions from your viewers.
One last note for those of you with previously recorded live stream broadcasts; You will not lose your recordings. They will be moved into your...
