Press View entry to see the entire chart, and my awesome comments! Oh. My. God.
Here I thought that Xfire had a male majority, but would you look at that.
The Sims 3 actually flew right into #10 on the charts.
Is it possible that our users actually like to play around with Barbie dolls?
Or could the explanation be that your little sisters are using your computers, while you are logged in to Xfire?
I really hope it's the second theory. If not, I think we could just as well just stop tracking any other games than The Sims. Especially since it's looking like it might place even better for next week.
The reign of the MMO and FPS is long over, welcome the social experimentation games! Yaaay!
Seriously though, it's mind boggling. From what I understand, Xfire has mostly male users, and we are in a really big lead. But, even though that may be, a game like The Sims 3 is able to place very well on the list of most played games.
I'm not trying to be prejudiced, you can play The Sims if you want to, but I seriously thought it appealed more to the female users.
Please, somebody, explain this to me!
But, let's leave The Sims for now. Or actually, let's not. I just want to say that I've never ever tried one of the Sims games, which could be why I'm actually confused by this.
Now, moving on.
Most of what's happening on the charts can be explained by two things.
1) Last weeks rocket,
Team Fortress 2. dropped a little bit. The update has started to sink in among the users, and I think this is a trend that might continue next week.
2)
The Sims 3. Need I say more? Straight in to #10. It makes things happen.
There is however one other thing that I find very interesting, and that's
Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning.
I can still recall the hype, and how cool the game felt at the start. It was a pretty new concept, and as far as that went, it was all good. But then entered Mr. Repetition. Oh boy. All the quests were pretty much the same. Talk about a big letdown. After like a week, I gave up. And, I think that is what's happening now. People aren't getting that much out of the game, and are leaving.
The Lord of the Rings Online, that felt pretty simplistic compared to
Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning, seems to be doing much better. I guess in part due to the great (?) success of the Mines of Moria expansion. I guess we'll see if WAR can offer some cool content in the near future.
Oh, and by the way, did you notice that there have been more posts than usual here this week? As I said last week, I have some more time on my hands now. Hopefully, I can keep it up and keep delivering awesome posts. If you don't like awesome, you can just go ahead and read the stuff that Joonas writes. It's all very "interesting"!
