Raid rules

Background
Ex-GL of an EQ1 raiding guild, on the PvP server Sullon Zek. By comparison, raiding in WoW is crayons and markers, with a naptime and snack. However, people will still be required to know their class, their spec, and execute well in that role.

Mistakes happen. Life happens. The goal is not pure perfection but an honest, solid raid where people are paying full attention and making a solid effort. Raiding in WoW is not "hard" but if you're interested in progressing you do have to make a little effort and definitely pay attention.

My goal is the smooth, clean and quick gearing up of a raiding team. I have no problems kicking someone out and replacing them for all eternity. We're here to run as a team and take the bosses and see the content. People start consistently acting up, action will be taken. The end.

Overview
Raids will be scheduled and signed up for via the in-game calendar. We will be progressing quickly and the focus is less on "screw around and have a good time" and more on "we're going to beat this into the ground in a timely fashion."

A "token" system similar to DKP will be used.

The more you raid, the more you gain and the faster you gear. If we have to pick up a PUG they'll be at a slight disadvantage, but at the same time our raiders will lose gear to PUGs less often. It will not be so severe that new people are discouraged but it will alleviate some of the issues with long-term-and-fully-geared, dedicated people losing gear they really want because of a single roll.

Those who raid will have the most points. When the "really good" gear drops then those without points will be at a disadvantage.

Realistically, at the top end of raiding, people don't get upgrades very often ... sometimes weeks without upgrades. To then lose on a single roll, perhaps to a PUG, for the ONE item you could really use is a real pain. Besides -- if they have numerous points then those people have put in time and effort into the guild and should be rewarded. Abuse, or attempted abuse of the system will be dealt with by the Raid Organizer, Master Looter, or myself (who will then escalate/defer to the Guild Leader as needed.)

Token System
Tokens modify your rolls, at the rate of 2:1.

Thus, by spending 2 tokens you could turn your 10 into an 11. The spent tokens are gone regardless of win/loss.

You -can- go negative, but, really, you'll just be removed from the raiding roster if you continue to pose an issue, and you cannot spend more than you have.

If you are asked to play an alternate character for a raid and you agree, you will choose where you want to gain the points. Once the points are applied, they cannot be moved, transferred or otherwise modified without Guild Leader approval.

Gaining tokens

  • +5 tokens per boss kill for guild-first kills.

  • +1 token per boss kill for subsequent kills

  • +1 token for being on time, prepared, and staying for the full duration of the raid.

  • +1 tokens for signing up, being on time, prepared and staying for the duration of the raid even if you're not raiding but are officially on Standby. If called off of Standby you will need to be ready to roll within 10 minutes. This +1 is applied WHETHER OR NOT YOU ARE ACTUALLY CALLED OFF OF STANDBY. Not everyone who signs up will be raiding or on Standby.

Losing tokens

  • -1 token for dying to avoidable environmental damage ( like standing in Bad Stuff<tm> )

  • -1 token for stupidity. ( Killing 50% of the raid due to a proxy-pull because you were not paying attention is a good example. Note: Wiping a raid because you were standing in Bad Stuff<tm> and died will be a net -2 tokens. )

  • -1 for not paying attention. This mostly applies to strategy posted in /party/raid. We can tell who, during the fight, was paying attention and following directions and who is not. If you're DPSing the wrong target, be careful or we're going to think you're not paying attention and dock you a point.

  • -10 tokens for leaving a raid without 15 minutes notification to the raid leaders. Extenuating circumstances may cause this to be waived. "Suddenly developing internet/game/connection/computer problems" will be viewed with suspicion and will probably result in the -10 being applied, at the discretion of the raid organizer.

Loot Rules

  • Looting will be done via Master Loot, main-spec before off-spec.

  • Unlimited drops per boss. Be glad for those who win as they contribute to the same raid you do. If you don't really need it, please do not roll on it. If we see this being abused action will be taken, to include the removal of raiding spots.

  • Post your "spending of tokens" to the Master Looter AFTER the loot is seen but BEFORE rolls are called for. If you post tokens after rolls they will not be applied.

Rules

  • Know the fights. There are a lot of resources out on the web ... take 10 minutes and read them.

  • "Big consumables" (like flasks) are optional, except where noted as required. Do note, though, that we prefer those who're more dedicated, serious and willing to make the effort to maximize their characters and, thus, our raids. Don't overspend trying to impress us; it'll just make you look foolish and waste your time and gold but if you need consumables while gearing up to hit certain levels of effectiveness ... we recommend that you do so.

  • Know the loot. Know what you need. Know who drops it. We're going to be moving relatively quickly and if you're sitting there trying to figure out if it's an upgrade or not, or whether it's good for you you'll probably miss the spending of tokens and may miss the rolling entirely. Go to http://www.wowhead.com and look up the bosses and see what you need. Write it down on a piece of paper and keep it next to you.

This section is still being worked on..

We value slightly-undergeared people who "have a clue and are willing to learn" over people who have uber-gear but are full of themselves and/or suck. Learn your class, raid with us and the gear will come in time.
