Make backups of your savegames!
2008-07-06 7:38 AM PDT
Just have to spread this message, since having made a backup of my GRID savegame saved me. The game was writing corrupt save-files onto disk and, since it always overwrites only one autosave file, destroyed the old ones. To all GRID players on this planet: install the patch and make backups! To all players of any game: make backups of your savegame!! you'll thank yourself one day. GRIDis such a great game. it doesn't deserver not to be continued playing, just because you didn't make a savegame backup and didn't install the patch.

Civilization IV
2008-05-30 9:56 AM PDT
Never thought, this game could be so good and addictive. It is not a historical correct game , it's more like playing risk and constructing thousands of years of humanity besides. It's very realistic, considering that the history would have been influenced by the environment, and there are so many aspects of strategy covered in this game, which is still very easy to play. Humanity spreads so realistically over the planet's surface, that i had to ask the question to myself, what the meaning of intelligent life is. From a extraterrestial pont of view, there is a common intelligence only. Every Human may have his free will, but it feels insignificant and has nearly no impact to the history of a civilization a shown in the game civilization IV. The whole thing matters, and that's, what emphasizes the game over abstract board games like chess. The gameplay is very abstract, and in it's way chaotic, but as it recreates human history, it's just overwhelming. You don't always see humans down there on the game map, but you always have them in the subconcious.

Copy Protection
2008-05-25 2:40 AM PDT
In their way to the perfect copy protection, the industry missed the most fundamental goal. That it's not about letting nobody play, but making it harder for the so calles "software murderers" (or was it software pirates or something?) to murd... pirate the games.
So, I, the one who buys all of his games is the one who has to spend energy for making the games work. The mu... pirate just inserts the DVD, installs the game and ins finished. he doesn't have to type a CD key, because a keygen is included, doesn't have to keep the Disc in the drive and doesn't have to care about limited online activations
I am not against things that prevent pirates from piratmurderrapecopying the games. But all these efforts just make it harder for me to play my games.
I am the one who has to update copy protection drivers, because the old ones don't work on the new OS, (Copy protection is usually the first thing, that makes old games unplayable on newer machines) has to try several DVD drives because some can not read the DVD (they can read the data, but the playing protection does not work. Oops, i meant copy protection...
I don't know what people do, who ahve only two drives in their PC. Games like test drive Unlimited work only with one of my three drives. It refuses to work with my Blu Ray (and yes, it also plays DVDs) drive. "Please insert the original DVD instead of a copy". But that's not the problem. The big problem is, that the ones who just have a copy of the game and didn't buy it can play the game even without having to grapple with the copy protection.
Same thing with the update stuff. i'm not really against it. T'm just against watching my friends who didn't buy the game playing it before me and without any problems.
They also don't have to keep the DVD in the drive and don't have to wait for the starforce-whaterver-CD check to examine the CD. they just play.

Indiana Jones and the Secrets of Kani Ma...
2008-05-19 9:48 AM PDT
After the success of the other Movies, Spielberg decided to create a Sequel to The kingdom of the Cristal Skull. The Story takes place in 1994. After Nazis and commies, the new enemies, mullahs, need to be inhibited from world domination. And so, Professor Jones, 95, hubbles with Whip, Fedora and crutch through several old Tombs and dungeons, looking for a mighty ancient Weapon, before his adversaries find it. The movie is composed of 69% special effects, 13% scantly dressed female baddies, 7% dialogues and 11% end credits.

I'm looking forward to the Blu Ray release of the first three movies. the're just classic!

Test Drive Unlimited
2008-05-14 4:34 AM PDT
More than one yeas has passed, since I played the beta of Test Drive Unlimted. It still has the old bugs, nothing really changed. The reason I play it is, that it is not the best MMO-Racing Game, but the only real MMO-Racing game. it causes a incredible feeling of freedom, since it's possible to drive anywhere on the Island. Yes, it is a Racing game, but i hated the races. They are like the farming in wolrd of warcraft. but now, i'm free. It's so cool to meet people everywhere on the island, and explore it as long as I want. The Traffic AI isn't too great, but since most other Racing games have no "Civilian" Traffic, it's good. They use their turn indicator, sound the horn, when you're violating the rules. Just too bad, i don't have a Turn indicator myself. The traffic seems to be something like the mobs in world of Warcraft. Just there to prevent you from success. Interesting, that they don't, since my personal goal in this game in just to drive around and not to cause as much Trouble as I can. Unfortunately, many players want to do so, and play this Games as if it were Burnout paradise. There is no damage model. There is absolutely no punishment for racing around like crazy. This is the worst part of the game. It's not about the visuals of a destroyed vehicle. It would be ok just to get a message and have to buy a new car but no, you can drive around like insane, without any punishment (ok, there is police, but they're really stupid.) Seems like Atari wanted to make a game for all kinds of players. But why did they have to put them all on the same server. Why is there no Roleplaying-Server like in world of Warcraft, where you can cruise around peacefully and have to wait 30 seconds in hospital or something after you had an accident (i like the police idea, by the way.)

Just some more stuff, one month of work would have made it the best online game ever.

now it's only the best online Racing game

The life of David Gale
2008-05-12 5:24 AM PDT
Can't understand the bad feedback everywhere. it's genious! The reviewers just don't get it. The film analyzes itself. In the end, everything is said, which makes analyzing reviewers jobless

The coherences are just paradox, but everything is explained within the movie. No need for explanation, just for an advice to watch it!

Titan Quest
2008-04-27 3:39 PM PDT
You can't talk about Titan Quest without bringing up Diablo II. The Holy Game. I'm not the Kind of player who plays Games for hundreds of hours to squeeze every bit of content out of it. I play for fun, and Diablo II was fun. And I'm going to tell you, why Diablo II is better than Titan quest. In theory, TQ is better. It has more of everything, better visuals and physics (especially if you played Diablo II before), more "classes", and great ideas like the portal key ("L&quot or the sheer amount of items and monster types etc. But First, Titan Quest (TQ in the following, because I don't want to send my new Laptop keyboard to repair again) came six years too late, and second, it has some minor imperfections that summarize to distinct overall annoyance. I culd write about the problem with the inventory screen which always overlaps your character, or the amount of time (1-2 seconds) you have to wait for the teleport-animation to end until you can walk out of the portal, but I won't, because first, I already did, and second, I will just advise to play Diablo II, because it's everything u'll need. Yes, TQ is better in theory, with more of everything and everything made nicer. But Diablo II is just the classic.

and That's the point! Why TQ if there already is Diablo II? It seems, that TQ has been a remake of Diablo II until they changed some things to avoid copyright issues with Blizzard Entertainment. And for players, there is absolutely no reason, to get into a Action RPG system, if there alredy is the Ultimate Action RPG. Of course, Diablo II isn't the best game for me. But that's not because I miss something. It's just becauseI can't get much out of Diablo II. Diablo II is perfect in it's way, Titan Quest may be (ignoring the lil problems)Perfect, but it's abolutely unecessary, because there already is Diablo II.
So Why do I play Titan Quest?
Don't know. could somebody tell me?

UT2004RPG
2008-04-06 2:31 PM PDT
It's so insane, consider it a parody of RPG games. Thanks to the author, we're able to play RPG at it's best. Some years ago, RPG was soemthing like rome-playing game. But then, the Idea of gaining experience points gained the upper hand, and were satisfying our human need for getting better.UT2004 RPG is RPG without RPG. so you could also consinder it as nothing, but for nothing, it is pretty much

2001: A Space Odyssey
2008-03-25 12:22 PM PDT
Just watched this movie. It doesn't think for you, providing verbalized information about what is happening or showing everything directly. It's about releasing and let the film stream into your brain convultions. Stanley Kubrick crated films, that can hardly be verbalized. Just watch them and you'll either have no more questions or fall asleep after two minutes. Fortunately, I belong to the first category. The Movie is like a dream. Very bizzare and at the first glance discontuniously. When you "wake up" you'll have admitted everything but be unable to tell someone about it. Why do i do it anyway? I have to.
The Movie is almost increasing your intellectual horizon, you think what you never have thought and feel like a part of the universe. just what the film wants to "deliver" in its way.
It is abstract in comparision to a fil that tells you what you have to think. Like a abstract painting can be in comparision to a photo. You don't really know what you see, but it makes you think in a way the artist (Stanley Kubrick in this case) wants you to.

Overlord
2008-02-12 9:44 AM PST
Played through overlord and have to say: its one of the greates games ever! Very smart leveldesign, gamedesign, great animations and catchy controls. Don't know, why everyone is playing FPS no.5000 if there are games like overlord :>
no, it isn't perfect, but it's been more fun than any other game I played in the last months. it is so complete! just try the great splitscreen multiplayer mode. And if you still don't want to buy the game, play the demo :>
